Argh, I don't want her to be less squishy for no good...

*dumps everything into RES because DETERMINATION, de-equips Phazon Heart*

Also, Alanis is at max INT.

She should negotiate.

It has been determined that Trump is an average unladen swallow travelling northbound at his maximum sustainable speed of -3 Obama-cubits per second in the middle of a class 3 hurricane.

pls no
What, would you rather Alanis someone who can't persuade any of the other PCs if their life depended on it handle the persuasion? Because her INT's also at the cap.

Neither can Motya, though. Motya tends to piss everyone else off, if less. IIRC the only people not either pissed off or creeped out by him are Mio, Dackly/Gozer and ItE. And the former is tenuous. :P

Really, in story logic, either Eirika (royalty), Mio (one of the more level-headed members) or Anna (only Huntress who doesn't have huge issues) should really be negotiating. :P

This is why we don't have stats for persuasion or intimidation, things make no sense

You may want to also disallow Summons from participating, since they don't appear to have the same, if any, stat caps to compensate for their lack of equipment. Because otherwise at this rate, every interaction with someone who isn't a non-important civilian is just going to consist of The Lynch Beast crashing in and intimidating everyone with his 12 base STR.

Fair enough. Summons are next up on the nerfing list, anyway.

I mean, holy hell, my original secondary character concept would have used the summon system to represent firing missiles (very high STR or SYN, low defenses, limited lifespan, die on successful attack, attacks automatically have miss chance based on target's DEX, cannot attack on turn in which they are summoned, forced to attack a specific target only). If summons were allowed to do diplomacy, the best option would literally be to fire a missile and have it circle around the poor sap, intimidating them. Not the person firing mind you, the missile itself would be intimidating them into complying :P

How about fixing the vast variance in the power of perks? I mean if you compare some of them...
  • "As a Voidwalker, Ashley is immortal and heals from her wounds, healing 1d3+CON passively each turn. She is also immune to void magic or void-based attacks, and capable of shapeshifting into different things."
  • "If the carrier of the Darksign perishes, they respawn near the main party or a place they identify as home, whichever is nearer. Upon death, however, the character's stats are reduced by 20%, with an additional 5% for each extra death, up to a maximum of 60%. Also, upon death, all status effects are removed, and the carrier loses all EXP they have gained since last level-up. The stat loss may be reset by regaining humanity, done by consuming either a human effigy or humanity sprite."
  • "Eirika is naturally swift-footed, being of light frame. Eirika's Dexterity is treated as being 1 point higher when she is attacked with a Melee weapon. +1 to Dexterity if it is lowered by a status effect."
I mean, you've got someone with immortality plus other benefits, versus someone with immortality plus drawbacks, versus someone who gets a conditional +1 to a stat that isn't even normally used in damage calculations.

Actually, I assume the immortal part is just flavour. There's no explicit clause in that first perk that says that 'if she dies, she doesn't' in crunch. However, I would probably question the added immunities on and the shapeshifting.

Garnt and Eirika's perks are fair enough, though. DEX IS used in damage calcs, although it's the wrong calc for Eirika.

No, I mean it isn't a matter of whether or not they're fair, because those two are definitely fair, the issue is that Erika's perk is completely and utterly underpowered. It's a perk, which is only gained once every five levels, and it gives her at most a +2 to single stat.

You might want to start setting guidelines just so that everyone knows where to aim in terms of power when making new perks. Because it was admittedly rather difficult figuring out whether or not perks and actions were under or overpowered.
