If crossbows and bows transfer to guns and other guns, do hand crossbows transfer to pistols?

Edit: oh, and I switched places between dex and con

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

That... would make sense, yeah. I had missed that, somehow.

Interested. Roll, please.

Clever and good at talking, but perhaps needed to play catch more as a child.

This character would be a perfect Paladin if those were in this game. As is, looks like a Strength based Fighter.

Sorry for double-post, but questions: Would chainmail be able to be concealed under clothes? And do we still get the Human racial traits?

Chainmail is concealable under heavy clothing (i.e. a thick coat), but it's going to be bulky. Smart or perceptive people can probably work out that you have armour.

And do we still get the racial traits for humans? I ask because normally you would, but we can only play humans so I felt I should ask.

And would leather armor be concealable?

Can I style my leather armour as a leather coat? A 19th century investigator needs a badass leather coat.

Perhaps a more sensible way to do it would be that is it has a stealth disadvantage, you can try to conceal it. Armour is bulky.

Yes, you get the racial traits for humans, or you can take the racial variant.

I was ninja'd with the very suggestion I was going to make. You may, yes.

Yes, that works. Going with that.

Also, if big weapons like lances and the like are weird, are swords and such also "Weird"?

Also also, since guns are more common than bows and crossbows, can I change to an equivalent gun wherever the rulebook calls for one of those in the starting equipment?

I'm assuming, if we go by real life, that the only weapons not considered weird would be rapiers (or side-swords, if you wish) for civilians and sabres (scimitars) for professionals. Clubs and daggers for common people.

Also, how does one calculate starting gold? Or rather, can I use my starting gold to buy extra equipment? I'm not sure how the rules work here. It seems like very generous rules if you het both the basic equipment of your class and background plus your starting gold, so I get suspicious that that might jot be the case.

Swords aren't considered that weird, no. A greatsword might raise eyebrows, but there's enough variantion in swords in use they won't really be considered weird.

Yes, you can have equivalent guns.

As far as I understand you have your starting equipment or your starting gold. One or the other.
