Alternate mechsuit man action: sit down.  Consider pacifism.

6v3

The mechsuited vessel runs forward and jumps, overshooting and flying out of the water, while Desmond flails awkwardly with all his tentacles and appendages, hitting little. His foe soars over him, and perches precariously on the rim of the tank, above him.

1v5

The mechsuit's electronics crackle and fizz, apparently not intended for aquatic use. It turns round a hundred and eighty degrees, leaps several feet directly upwards, and elbow drops the side of the tank. Water gushes out of the jagged five-foot-wide hole, rapidly filling the wider arena. An emergency pipeline activate in the floor of the cage, refilling it as fast as the water can flow away, and Desmond is forced slipperily past his assailant, riding the surge of water round towards the opposite side of the ring. The mechsuit resists the tonnage of water bearing down on it, as it's a goddamn mechsuit.

To clarify: the tank, a cylinder, is in the centre of the arena, a cylinder itself. In a few moments both will be filled with water, though currently two huge waves are flowing out of the tank, ready to meet on the opposite side from the hole and the mechsuit, Desmond riding one of them.

The host looks annoyed.

By this point, he's far enough round the tank that you'd have to jump through the tank's walls, or over them.
