Not at all. They are literally at the bottom most border of the entire world, and no heat-related deaths.

Possible because it rains regularly? I don't know. Maybe thirst is more of a problem? The glassmakers certainly die of thirst really fast.

We've discovered sun berries and pineapples, farming of which has begun. Quite the delicious variety of food in the undead volcano slimefort.

There's also a cadre of chinchilla man/woman corpses meandering about. They seem to be migrating peacefully, which clearly warrants that they be hunted down and destroyed. Success pending.

My dwarves haven't had sun berries since 0.34.11, the Elves just don't bring 'em anymore.

These chinchilla people were significantly more dangerous. They were able to damage muscle straight through iron armor.

That said it was a minor skirmish. Fron is easily the most skilled dwarf in terms of weapon skills, at an expert axedwarf. Mebzuth is highest in defensive skills, and has nothing less than adept in armor, dodge, and shield.

Kazturkey is still green, but scored two kills at the cost of a badly broken left hand. This did not cause him to lose the grip on his shield, because screw those undead, I guess.

Successful Skirmish all in all, Kaz is off to the doctor.

The real danger with chinchilla people is the amount of poop they generate...

I seem to be developing a poor track record w.r.t. hands... still, yay murder.

I couldn't play much today, so I lazily made an MS Paint art of the only completed building in town, the farm-tower.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I say lazily, but the engravings match what's actually on the pillars. We have dwarves laboring in mountains, a red spinach (I have never seen "a spinach") and a pear-cut gem. Also there are olive trees currently growing on the roof of the farm-tower (I have never seen an "olive tree"). Also visible is an olm-woman making a plaintive gesture.

Today, we learned that the red slime causes resistible but severe blistering, swelling, and bleeding. All three military dwarves may in fact bleed to death, and will probably be horribly scarred due to multiple manglings of lips and other extremities. In the future, we will not hunt chinchillas in the rain.

Oh god, we're gonna be like, horribly scarred, axe-wielding monstrosities. On the plus side, the gobbos may decide to just leave after seeing us.

That is, if we don't bleed to death.

EDIT: Also, your MS Paint art is much better than mine. Mine is just horribly demented stick figures.

Horribly demented stick figures have a certain charm to them

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

There isn't much middle ground between killed-by-dragon and never-seen-by-dragon.

Done. you are Iamblichos Manyoil, leading engraver of BLAZECOOK.

Minor updates. A chinchilla head reanimated and hopped about bothering no one. It moved into a non-dangerous area and was promptly stomped upon by the Three Dorfkateers (who are slowly recovering from 90% full body blisters apparently fine now).

For your viewing pleasure, here are the summaries of all dorfs as of year 04. This is a depressing place, from everyone's thoughts.

Burial is about to become a concern. I'm thinking catacombs early on that are slowly built into a death pyramid. Any thoughts?

PYRAMID OF DEATH! PYRAMID OF DEATH!

How do we handle tombs? I think we are going to need extravagant underground vaults underneath the death pyramid.

Any ideas for aboveground tombs? Space would be a concern, of course.
