Bio:
Roger was born into a modest family, second eldest of five. They lived off the bounty of the nearby forest, his father as a lumberjack, his mother a huntress. He and his siblings each did their own thing, some followed father with lumber-jacking, while others joined in the hunting, Roger followed his father.
To mark which tree he would fell next he would often throw a hatchet into the trunk, at first at point blank range, but as time went on he began throwing them from further away, some other lumberjacks tried but where never as good, which occasionally resulted in accidents (it's how nine-fingered Rick became seven-fingered Rick), his throwing skill wasn't limited to just axes (much to the chagrin of the dart players at the local pub), which meant whenever there was a fair with tests of skill he rather enjoyed them, one year even running one, it wasn't super successful but it was successful enough to pay for a round of drinks for he and his friends.
However as time went on the money to be made from lumber-jacking lessened, or at least the wood desired wasn't the kind felled, so he and some of his lumber-jacking buddies decided to take a chance as mercenaries, they had plenty of experience repelling bandits and other ne'er-do-wells, and it wasn't as if lumber-jacking was much safer, by this point Rick was down to six fingers and his brother was almost killed when a rotten tree fell unexpectedly on him.
Roger isn't quite a large as some your average lumber-jack but he is much faster and deft with an axe, while others hack away Roger just chops right through with a number of closer chops. Due to his upbringing he often helped prepare the spoils of his mother's hunts, which left him desensitized to gore and viscera (the injuries others got from lumber-jacking didn't hurt either) which resulted in a surprisingly dark sense of humour, often manifesting as the running joke of "Don't steal my food or *insert colourful threat here*" normally aiming for the comically over the top, nobody ever stole his food and he never turned anyone's ribcage into a wine rack, or gave anyone their favourite internal organ (back) as a birthday present.
