The living are searching for a murderer, not a horde of hateful undead. The surprise attack throws them off guard, and the pathetic militia breaks. The scent of fear you smelled earlier has multiplied tenfold. Townsfolk and guardsmen alike trample over each other, caring not for their fellows as they scramble for the town castle. Somewhere, amidst the chaos, you hear the echoing screams of a soul recently murdered...
You command with a gesture for your undead to kill and slaughter. They happily oblige. The skeletons, despite instilling great fear, are easily dispatched. This gives the living some slight hope. They put up a good fight, reducing a number of skeletons to dust. In fact, most of the living casualties are due to themselves pushing and trampling each other.
No matter... You sneak undetected, into the shadows, searching for the killer. An ally is what you need. An ally is what you'll get. Following the psychic screams of the recently deceased (quite difficult, as you have to filter out the aura of fear) and make your way slowly to a dark street. You sense only two living creatures here. The rest seem to have retreated already.
One of the living, thoroughly frightened, runs haphazardly down the cobble street. You sense the other lurking in the shadow, obviously enjoying the sense of terror like you do. The horrified woman finally breaks down, heavily bleeding. Another comes out of an alley, cleaver at the ready. You watch as the hooded figure dismembers the screaming woman. The murderer seems to have taken advantage of the chaos, choosing to kill openly now that everyone has run into the town castle.
After fifteen minutes of screaming, the woman finally stops. The hooded figure begins giggling maniacally. You step into the lamplight, revealing your rotting, skeletal body. The Red Killer stops laughing and begins sobbing hysterically. The red hood falls down, revealing long, blonde hair and the face of a young girl.
"Y-you finally came for me... You heard my prayers!" She looks down at her bloody hands and wipes it on a patch of white cloth on her cloak. You realize that her red cloak was once white. "F-forgive my appearance, my savior..."
