Bio: John Boyd was not a soldier, like many of the other members of the Soldiers of Fortune Initiative, or a civilian who wanted adventure. Rather, he was a cop. Boyd, an eight-year veteran of the LAPD, was a Sergeant on the day-shift, and regularly worked SWAT. Boyd slipped into darkness, seeing the worst of humanity on a day-to-day basis, and took to drinking. He never really stopped, either, and, when his wife confronted him, he went into a drunken rage, hitting her and threatening his son, who was eight years old. When his wife tried to get away and call the police, he pulled out a handgun, threatening her with it. When the police finally arrived, one of the patrol officers who worked with Boyd managed to talk him down, and put him in cuffs.
Boyd was convicted for felony domestic violence, and resisting arrest, and sentenced to three years in prison. After serving his time, Boyd got out of the big house, and found that his life was in tatters. His wife had taken full custody of both of his children, and taken away his house. The LAPD had discharged him because of the conviction, and he was basically unemployable. Who would hire an ex-felon who didn't even have a college degree? For a year and a half, Boyd moved from homeless shelter to homeless shelter, until someone in the SOF heard of him. He was offered a job, and took it as a way out.

Abilities:Active Ability: Takedown (Boyd was a cop since right after he got out of high school, and one of the first things you learn in the academy is how to take down a suspect. When within 20 feet of an enemy, Boyd can charge at them and wrestle them to the ground, using a melee weapon or just his bare hands, without being shot. Cool-down, 2-4 turns.)
Passive Positive Ability: Breach and Clear (Boyd was kicking down doors for eight years, first serving warrants as a patrol cop, and then not-knocking on doors as a SWAT point man. He's seen every ambush in the book, and when he kicks down a door, he catches the owner on the draw. (When Boyd breaches into a room, he automatically gets the first shot off, before whoever is inside.)
Passive Negative Ability: Breacher (Boyd spent eight years training to fight in urban environments, and inside small rooms. He's one of the best there is at breaching, and close-combat, but he's terrible at long range fighting, a side-effect of spending all that time training for close combat.)
