"Fred, you old bastard!" Professor greets him loudly with great smile. "Can you get some for me? After this day I might want to drink my brain off into very non-scientific laalaa land! Wassup Eddie? Keeping track of good old captain? Did you found any nice local dogs?"

Keep Captain from interfering, gently and firmly. Keep working.

I can't play sorry. I'll explain why when I have time. I have to quit all games.

It's fine. No need to explain.

((I thought Ed had come with Newton to the diner, then to see Wilhelm))
((Your right, we'll just assume that he wandered off at some point and found Fred.))

Updating tomorrow, wanted to wait for Megggas.

"I think I've seen the black goo respond to blood before.  Maybe we can use it as a kind of bait..."

Follow Newton to where he plans to start the fire.  Reduce my sense of touch to 10% and then cut myself with some kind of blade.  Sprinkle my blood around the area.  Then leave the building and receive medical attention.

((I thought Ed had come with Newton to the diner, then to see Wilhelm))

Oh God. From the looks of ridge here -yes, thee guys are with me - those black goo creatures have come across. Your village is in great danger. Ugh, this all started with a little infection. I can't believe how quickly it's spreading and evolving. Fridge, get to a sink and wash that shit off before it eats you. Wilhelm, you should do whatever it is you do in emergencies. Sound the alarm, call the people together, whatever. This stuff gets into animals and takes over, turning them into something else. Jon, electrofry any black creatures you see. Where are the professor, Ed, and the Captain? We need to be ready to get the hell gone!

Newton pauses a moment, thinking about what they have tried against the creatures so far. Guns take them down eventually, but they just infect something else and move on. Water seems to only slow them down a little. they appear to be attracted to people, or maybe it's 'special' people. Our powers have some effect, but ... Antibacterials and other meds in that first aid kit didn't kill it when it was just an infection ... oh no ...

Wilhelm! Fridge! Time to try the old fashioned way. Kill it with fire!

Plan: Gather flammables to a flammable building, draw the monsters in, ignite. Ideally, this will also set the forest on fire. Then all that's left is to burn the island, hunt down any stragglers on the mainland to the north, and boil the ocean.

Only problem with the plan is that they can just run from the fire far to the east. If the forest lights you'll probably just slow them down. That's assuming that they can't adapt to fire if it is used extensively...  :P

That said, we'll still go ahead with your plan.

Wilhelm stares at the ground, his face has grown dark. He finally speaks "We have to evacuate the village. For your plan we can use an old storage building on the village outskirts by the woods, it is far enough from any other buildings that it should not set them alight. We can set people on the roofs of the nearest buildings to help shoot the things when they arrive. I'll have my men sound the alarm. They'll also aid in preparing the building."

Thanks for the heads up.

Gather stones to hurl while I am waiting for Wilhelm, and be prepared to repel hostiles.

Jon can focus on readying his electric power to launch at them, and maybe to superheat some trees into exploding around them too.

You gather stones and aid in preparing the building to burn. A foreboding siren sounds from the central building of the village, lights of all the houses flick on.

You do so and get yourself bandaged up. Afterwards, you aid in preparing the rest of the trap. A foreboding siren sounds from the central building of the village, lights of all the houses flick on.

"Yeah, was gonna do that anyway. By the way, Private Nosebleed, they're not responding too well to magic anymore. Must be getting immunity. Bear that in mind."

Go wash my hands. With industrial-strength chemicals if needed.

Newton mentions a small bar to head to and says to mention his name. A young black haired woman greets you and looks at your hands in disgust. After hearing the names of your companions, she lends you some soap and strong cleaning chemicals for your hands. A foreboding siren sounds from the central building of the village, lights of all the houses flick on, the people within the bar leave at an alarming rate, heading towards the town hall by the river delta.

"Yes, Yes..." he hands you a canteen full of a strong smelling alcohol. "Keep it, I have more."

The Captain plops down in a chair and meanders on about his service in the military, soon falling asleep. You finish your work and get your parts. A foreboding siren sounds from the central building of the village, lights of all the houses flick on. The Captain wakes up violently, swinging his fists at the air before realizing the situation. Ed raises his ears, and growls loudly.

Also, your truck is still in the woods, but you should have enough time to get it out before those things arrive.

All except conein:

As a result to Newton's plan, the old warehouse building at the edge of town is loaded up with flammable materials and can be set alight remotely (1-2 hundred feet away at most). Fridge, Newton, Phil, and John gather up at the towns center with Wilhelm and his workers. Towns people flow in at first as a trickle, and then as a flood of complaints and worries. Wilhelm tells them what you have told him, and that they are evacuating, they respond with a barrage of questions and concerns.

"What are these things?!"  "How did they get here?!?"  "How long do we have until they arrive?!"  "Do we have any plans to stop them!?"

them running away from us for a while? How is that a problem?

Let's sum up the situation: Very early on, Professor misuses his magic somehow and gets infected with slowly spreading black goo. it is resistant to medical attention. and spreads. We land on a n island. Professor, to save himself, removes the infected leg.

Which then proceeds to run unopposed right by literally every player character in the game at the time, and starts biting wildlife.

Players attempt a minor set of extermination, but, as the creature apparently is much quicker to spread, and wildlife seems willing enough to let it near enough to bite them (Ed excluded), it infects an entire island. Then it spreads, and develops resistances to magic and bullets. Clearly water is no obstacle. Oh, and it apparently has taken to tracking us. We have no poison, nukes, or ice available. We have an electric guy, a builder guy, a telekinetic, and a grav guy. What's left? Are we going to air them to death? Because really, it's that or fire. I am not strong enough to launch them all into space, nor to condense them into a single blob. And they spread faster than we travel. Aaaaaannnnnnnd, it is now in direct contact with one of our people again.

Okay, so it's been hinted that they have some weakness. Weakness to what? boredom? each other? Romance? Fire it is. I am not chasing all the fucking way to the east and to the north, and under the damned sea to cut of their escape - that way lies wilderness, and they can breed out there until they circumnavigate for all I care, as long as we have bought enough time to get off this filthy death hole planet. I don't even care about revenge against the Federation at this point. I'm pretty sure unleashing the black plague was revenge enough. And, like all revenge, it was misguided and will inevitably destroy far more innocents than enemies. Fire, delay, and flee.

As soon as Professor gets the truck running, Newton gets on and suggests quite firmly that we head straight for a space port. Collect any of our number we can, but the instant one of those comes, we go. The magic black eat everything evolves and moves and breeds faster than we travel sentient chase down the player characters goo is out of control, and short of orbital bombardment, we are not getting rid of it.

You can always set the building afire and leave. What I was saying is that this isn't going to completely eliminate them, but it will hold them off long enough to allow the villagers and you all time to get away. That said, you can always just set the building on fire and leave. Also, I get your point, I made the goo seem too powerful. I said there is a weakness, and it is fire.

Ok, I have a better plan.

go to the place where we could find a safehouse.

You find a hotel and rent out a fairly large suite for yourself and the soldiers with you. It has a good view of the military base, being three stories up. The men with you help set up some equipment.

Since The Moonlit Shadow is no longer playing, would you like to post actions for his character to do? Otherwise he'll probably just die of a surprise heart attack.

Is The Moonlight Shadow's character just gonna die or will he be able to be controlled by other players like how Jon Goldbloom is?

I'm just going to leave that up to conein since their characters are together currently.

Well, to be fair, our lack of knowledge on the creature is partially our fault.  Instead of killing them all, we probably should have captured a small goo creature and experimented on it to discover its weaknesses.  Phil tried to do that earlier with the wolf, but that didn't pan out.  It's a bit too late for that now, though.  For all we know, these goo creatures are weak to the power of love or something. :P

Personally, I think the professor is the key to beating this creature.  It was created from his powers going haywire, and it didn't become extremely dangerous and viral until it was detached from the professor.  Perhaps the professor just needs to make some kind of contact with it and then he'll be able to control it like he did with the flesh golem he made back on the ship.  Maybe the creature is even some kind of hive mind that the professor can try ordering around.

Note: I typed this all before reading HavingPhun's updated post.

EDIT: Okay, so the creature is weak to fire after all.  That...doesn't help us much.  Unless we can contact the Federation and tell them to nuke the island from orbit, I don't think we'll be able to stop it from overtaking this world.

Well, the last several turns have suggested large numbers of them, spreading rapidly. I honestly don't know, aside from using the fuel of the truck to rig a very large napalm bomb, ow we could have burned the lot of them before this. Also, I hope my little rant isn't discouraging, Having Phun. I like the game a lot. I just see no viable "win" scenario with these things, and haven't since about our third encounter on the island. So burn and run, which may be the worst option possible, is still the best one available :P
(I stole that from a comment about democracy being the worst government possible but the best one we have. I forget who said it)

Alright, let's see.
Newton assists Wilhelm in answering the villagers' panicked questions.
Those things are monsters born of what, for lack of a better term, we'll call magic. I know, it's ridiculous. But for now, let's just leave it at that okay? They are dangerous, they are infectious, and they are a direct threat to you all. I cannot tell you how exactly they came to be, or why they are what they are. But we have fought them and killed them before. If you keep your heads, act calmly, and follow the orders of your leaders, you will be fine. That said, be prepared to move quickly. Time is short, and your lives are more important than your homes.

...

For what it is worth, I am truly sorry.

a goo leg runs past the team and we all stare blankly as it goes. After that, it infects everything it bites. how did we ever have time to really experiment on it? by the time one captured little goobeing would have yielded results, we would have already had every opportunity to field test different methods on wild goobeings. We learned enough in the first encounters with it to realize it was hostile dangerous and capable of spreading itself with ease. this does not make or leisurely scientiic pondering. It makes or rapid, gtfo action. We did right.

Ok, admittedly, we didn't have much downtime between the discovery of the goo monster leg and the current situation of being invaded by hordes of armored goo beasts.  I suppose the only thing we could have done differently would have been to keep the infected wolf alive and take it with us as we escaped to the town.  Then after arriving at the outer edge of the town, we would have had 5 turns to experiment on the wolf, which, alright, isn't that much time to experiment.  Best case scenario, we would probably just be discovering some kind of way to stop or prevent the infestation process for a single creature, which isn't all that great in the long run.  Of course, even this plan would have been a bust if the wolf finished converting to a goo monster while we had it with us.  So...now that I think about it, research really wasn't much of an option.

Wow, this infestation really is unstoppable.  If it can go from controlling a single leg to an entire island's worth of animals in roughly 10 turns, then this planet's got no chance.  We should probably just grab a spaceship and fly off ASAP.
-----

A reckless idea enters Phil's mind.  It's risky, but it might be necessary.  He turns toward Wilheim.
"We need to contact The Federation.  If we hurry, they might have the firepower to wipe out this infestation before it consumes this entire planet.  Wait for me, I'll be back."

Run back to the truck.  Grab the backpack relay and equip it.  If I can carry more then also grab the small computer and the Heat shield plating.  Then run back to the town.  After I return, use it to send a quick message to The Federation telling them about the current situation and our location.  Request total incineration of the infected landscapes.

"Oh great, I was just about getting ready... Hey people, anyone mind towing my truck near the forest into the village!? I can't go because I have to make fuel for it! It is a great truck, well worth of risking your life for! It has automated defense drone on board, so it should keep you safe!"

Persuade people sacrificing themselves to drag the truck into village.
Construct a device that deconstructs water via electrolysis, cools resulting free oxygen and hydrogen into liquids with boosted AC unit and stores them into insulated tanks for later use. Using the parts I earned and whatever is available.
Should people get the truck into the village, hook up the device with the trucks fuel tanks and powersource.
Start producing rocket fuel regardless.

((Where's my weapons platform? On the truck? In that case it probably would be shooting the goo things.))

No it's fine, you have a point. I did get a bit carried away with the capabilities of the goo  :P. At least should have made a weakness of some sort clear. Anyways, when I initially had the professors leg run off in the woods, the plan was that something like this would eventually happen.

((Where's my weapons platform? On the truck? In that case it probably would be shooting the goo things.))

Yes, that should aid the people who are getting the truck back.

Run back to the truck.  If the relay is with the truck, then grab it and run back to the town with it.  If it is not removable, instead use it to send a quick message to The Federation telling them about the current situation and our location, then run back to town.  If the relay was actually left all the way back at our landing site, then instead just grab the small computer and the Heat shield plating and rush back to the town.

The relay is built into a backpack, so you'll be able to run over and stick it on your back. It is on the truck.
