Methinks I agree with the like's of Caz's argument. Let kitten be cat.

If anything, I'd attempt to find ways to help it amuse itself. Invest in boxes. Cats dig boxes.

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

Haha no. She's mine, I rescued her myself.

You guys, I'm not going to spray my kitten's face with deodorant because it tickles my feet. I mean really.

Deodorant and orange oil is a definite no, but what about panzerfaust? Three votes for panzerfaust. Probably safer to panzerfaust the kitty than orange oil it too.

Where has the "spray the cat" thing come from? Given that nobody actually suggested it.

Scratch my last suggestion. Spray the cat with panzerfaust. Obviously this is the correct way to go.

While I don't throw out the idea of using water-spray in itself (though I'd prefer to not use it myself), I don't think it should be used to counter age-appropriate displays of affection. Wrestling and biting is an important part of a kittens life, it is part of how it gets to know both it's own body and how to use it.

Honestly unless what the cat is doing is potentially harmful to it I wouldn't suggest the water at all anyhow. It is like shooting a fly with a bazooka.

You just have to... in a manner of speaking... communicate with the cat.

When you usually tell it to stop you are probably telling it you are being devious or playful.

Just don't let it play with your socks and be firm on that. Don't blow up at the cat, don't go crazy with it, and then play with something appropriate instead.

Mind you that is easier said then done... it is certainly a lot easier to communicate with my cat but I've had it for a long time. I can tell it to leave or enter rooms.

Guys, let me get this straight, because people seem to be getting other people's ideas confused for my statements: I'm not spraying the cat at all, with any substance. Except maybe a panzerfaust. Heck I don't even own a spray bottle. Besides, I don't like the idea of punishment. I don't even punish my dog anymore even though he does drink out of the toilet sometimes. Plus I heard cats don't even take it the same way as dogs do.

Just don't let it play with your socks and be firm on that.
I never mentioned that, but what do I care if she plays with my socks at any rate? She can't hardly damage them. And it makes no difference to me if she puts a thread out of place. I've got lots of socks. She likes playing with empty water bottles better anyways. They roll and make funny crinkly noises.

---

Look I'm a very empathetic person and I've had quite a few pets (never a cat but the point is I can be sensitive towards animals). It just annoys me a little that she bites my feet (she's gentle so it doesn't hurt, she's clearly playing, my feet are just ticklish), and that's the only thing that she does that bothers me. And when she does it I don't scream or pull her ears or punt her over the fence or anything like that, however much I sometimes find myself tempted. I just say her name ("oi, Panzor") to get her attention, then pick her up and move her away. Or if she's being really persistent, I get up and do something else and then she gets bored because I'm ignoring her. But oftentimes it interrupts important things I'm doing since she especially likes to initiate this when I'm sat at the computer.

Oranges were a good tip. I was eating some earlier and let her have a whiff of my hands and she definitely doesn't like that, but it's impractical and weird for me to rub them on my feet, and I don't particularly feel it's enough of a problem for me to go and buy aerosols or oils specifically to use on my feet. And give Wierd a break. He never said I should spray my cat with deodorant. Wearing socks (even though I don't like it) is OK, she can still bite through them but it tickles me less. Two pairs works a charm but it's so damn hot that there's no way I can keep that up at this time of the year. I had the idea before, but today I think she got wise to it (she's been getting a lot faster and more agile too). Now she's attacking my upper legs.

Nobody thinks you're spraying the cat with anything, gunnin. We're just responding to the suggestion.

Ehhh unfortunately these are the sorts of things that becomes bad behaviors over time. Yet if you can tolerate it I have no objection.

Teach her to respect the foot. When she starts playfighting with your foot, you should fight back and win. That is, you need to roll her around with your foot until she gets sick of it and bails out.
