**Assuming this is true, this brings up several questions:

Firstly, how can we, citizens of 2015ish, be within a simulation of greater complexity then should have been possible?

Secondly, why was Bay12 targeted in particular? As utterly fabulous, with a few exceptions, as we are, its nonetheless a somewhat odd coincidence

Thirdly, should answers to the first and second questions prove insufficient, it is possible their basic presumptions are invalid? If the environment we are in does not conform to who and what we think we are, is there an error in one? Or the other? If the capability to create such a highly advanced simulation existed, it is not unreasonable to assume memory creation and such were not also possible. We could have had memories of a normal life and a unifying online forum implanted in us.

Fourthly, should question the third's possibility of our memories and possibly identities being fabricated be true, why go to such effort? Is this some futuristic prison, where criminals are detained not only a false reality, but also identities which are not their own? Even then, it seems excessive.**

Arcvasti pauses, visibly out of breath.

**Or maybe this place has a supernatural origin which, despite my knee-jerk response to this particular banal answer, might be plausible.**
"Because we don't know everything and it's entirely conceivable our entire universe was a simulation being run by beings with far more advanced technology, or different rules of physics, than ours? Because they wanted to find a varied but on the whole intelligent community of individuals to choose from while ensuring they had something in common, and people willing and able to play dwarf fortress fit the bill? And anything with such technology doesn't need to have motives. Questioning it at that point doesn't prove anything. People do weird shit. Could just be for fun, to see what happens. We could be just copies of our real selves or whatever, ported here to run through these. Could be they do it all the time. Little tests, like arena mode or something."

He peers into the new room.

"Also this is a trap room, I'm totally calling it right now. You step on the wrong tile, it slides out from under you or the floor itself turns to make you slide off, come back in through those chutes."

You are building a house where all walls face south, a bear walks by. What color is the bear?

Armach Stares at Arc for a bit. "So basically you have no fucking idea what this is either." He pauses to hear Hugo and then nods in agreement. He then steps on C1.
Nothing happens when Armach steps on this panel.

"Well, going on the DF analogy, it's possible that us and our backstories were generated as part of the game, though I must say I feel like I exist. And I definitely remember seeing Armach and Kevak in person before this. I wonder if the people we spawn in Arena mode feel the same way about their existence."

((The subtitle was because of one of the rooms, with little to do with the actual game.))

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

(Someone made a room with hangman, where the penalty for getting letters wrong is getting turned into an animal. Should probably change it, since the room is beaten now. Also, now you've got what will probably be a very long thread in your inbox forever.)

"Wait, how can ALL the walls face south? That doesn't make any sense."

**Define "facing". You can still make a house if whichever direction is "front" for each wall is different.**
