As the Skyranger flies back into the hanger of the X-COM HQ, the man simply known as The Commander sighs. He knows that it is one soldier less. He knows that there is a medal he must give to one of them. And he knows that only two soldiers even got promoted from that battle.
"Commander to the Research Labs, Commander to the Research Labs." An electronic voice pings into his head, making him grit his teeth due to the volume. Standing, he begins his short walk there, to chat with the Research Director. Dr. Vahleen. After some short words and a lot of blank stares, The Commander leaves. His shoes tap along the metallic floor as he enters engineering, smiling to his old friend, Dr. Shen. He points, on a small screen, to something titled a 'Med-kit'. Dr. Shen nods, and walks off.
Finally...Time to speak to the Soldiers. All of them. Here we go.
He steps into the barracks, where they are all sitting, staring. Judging...No. Their stares are filled with hope. Expectancy to lead them to some new paradigm of war.
Poor bastards have no idea what we're up against.
He readjusts his tie, and so The Commander speaks.
"Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I am The Commander. I control, maintain, and essentially run the X-COM project. As you may know, we have already deployed once. The threat is real.
Extraterrestrials have attacked the human race. And we are the first and last line of Humanity's Defense." He coughs, clearing his throat. "I have also already recieved word that two of our soldiers have become 'Squaddies'. Ms. Aira Tala, a sniper, and Mister Descan Kincade, a 'Heavy'. I hope they excel in the ranks of our organization." He attempts a reassuring smile, and comes out more like he's slightly sick. The englishman looks to the two soldiers, the sniper in all black, the heavy in bright purple with a ball-cap. He nods, and continues.
"As for the scienctists, we have begun a project simply called 'Purity'. It involves the strange canisters we recovered on-site. I trust you will treat them with respect. Thank you, and remember.
"
We are all that is left for humanity and it's hope. Good day."
Off duty soldiers can RP in the barracks. Have of the funs! I'll be doing these at (mostly) random.
