I also noticed that the specialist moved to pick up the ranger's body, then dashed to the evac. So yeah, that might be accurate.

I think they just upped the destruction to make everything look cooler, just as every shot was one hit-kill.

Gosh that was a long time ago, I just assumed it was a current service tank, and didn't remember that the m60 was still in use.  They sure got a lot of years out of those.

They did mention they increased the standard destruction rate because they don't want people just turtling in one spot for a good period of time.

That was the job for meld.
besides apparently ADVENT gets unlimited reinforcements basically turning every mission into nofunland whale dashing as more and more evil forces of darkness arrive on the map.

Hammering in the point that you ain't supposed to kill them all.  Complete the objective and run.
EDIT: If experience/rank is based on individual kill count again... set up a kill zone with an easy out and farm away.

Fire spread is also going to be more of a threat.

I really hope they make it so that the rating of the mission determines the main exp the team receives, while kills them selves are a minor bonus per individual.
Or maybe it'll be like "whoever hauls the big shiny thing back gets a big shiny medal".

Anti-farm method #1: each mission has an invisible turn counter that determines when ADVENT just gets tired and carpet bombs the area/sends ten MECs in at once. :P

I haven't seen anything to suggest they get unlimited reinforcements. It seemed to me like he said they can show when uou "get near or finish an objective", much like drop down forces did in council missions in EU. Just extended to support the the new random objective mechanics too.

or opposition just ramps up until it is overwhelming.  You could take it if you were cheating, but if you're playing straight then they'd have more aliens on you than you can conceivably shoot.  Maybe things like hacked turrets and robots only last a limited number of rounds, to prevent them from helping with the farming?

I have some wild class conjecture:

Code: [Select]
nucom long war toocom

/sniper ---------\
sniper <           \
\scout \          \
>ranger    >sharpshooter
/assault /          /
assault <           /
\infantry ---------/

/gunner -???
heavy <
\rocketeer \
>grenadier
/engineer /
support <
\medic \
>specialist
N/A N/A(hacker) /

N/A N/A -???

There might be some new class type, but there is a pretty big gap in the machine gun / infantry / rocket side of things.

sharpshooter will probably pickup some of the double-tap kinds of things out of the old Infantry tree, this will be for their pistol build.  But the multiple shot overwatch type that was infantry and gunner from longwar is totally absent from the announced classes.  I expect this is what the last class will be.

It may be folded into Grenadier, so you could have an explosive build or a heavy gunner build.  I am banking on the last class being something fairly new, like a psi-based or a hybrid-based class.

I'd angle towards something new instead, seeing that the gunner class makes slightly less sense in a stealth-focused setting.
