Yes, mages should be able to spend 3 mana to increase their spell's Zap roll by 1, but doing this provokes a Luck roll: on a roll of 2 or less, the spell loses one Awk.
No, this is a very bad idea.
No, this is a somewhat bad idea, I have my own ideas. (Post in thread).

Transform Self into Apex Dragon, then go guard the booze like it's my hoard. Hit Azer with my breath attack if I have one.

If I can get to Drake before he transforms, throw him at one of the fireballs. If not, go to potions and smash healing potion over hands and toss a harmful potion at Drake.

The point of keeping the golems on fire isn't for the value of fire as a weapon. It's more to keep the golems functioning at a reasonable speed.
It was never a promise. It was a dirty lie, and you all knew that. You should all know by now that you can't trust a word I say.

Turn Twelve: INIT 2.0, life, and misses.

INIT
Avery(17+10=27)
Person(54+10=64)
Weremouse( 8 )
Forgotten Beast(25-10=15)

Person is the first to act against... oh wait I need his action. I guess this turn comes later. the weremouse.
Sorry about that.

Healing aura. Kill that damn were-mouse with my sword.
Just for my own sanity.
(5) Person purges the pain, then moves to attack. And heal.

Zap(2+2=4)
Awk(5)
The spell is successful, though not potent enough to immediately heal his wound. (healing aura, two turns)
Then he moves to attack. (1-1=0vs.3) Miss de do.

Avery recognizes the real threat and moves to do something about it. Luck(2) it doesn't look as though most of the armor will fit, but Avery still runs over to it(3+1=4) quite quickly, grabbing the few bits that fit. (now wearing helm and boots, plus shield.)

The Forgotten Beast choses(2) Person as its target. (2vs.5-1=4) Person gets out of the way, awkwardly but effectively.
The weremouse retaliates. (4vs.5-1=4) (hit: tails) (4vs.3-1=2) Person blocks, but receives several armscrapes to his dominant arm. (right arm cut)

Random Event(3) Nope.

(Severely tempted to dual wield swords, but lol why did I put no points in strength.)
Let's just leave this room shall we? If I can, close the door behind me to keep Avery inside with the beast.

Turn Eight: Power Differential

INIT
Azer(50+20=70)
Drake(60+20=80)
Ang and Aen(38+10=48)

Drake smiles, then reveals his true power- the Apex Dragon.
Zap(6+3=9)
Awk(5+1=6)

He overdid it slightly. No. Slightly is too weak of a word. Although the finesse of his magic is questionable, nobody can doubt that Drake... I... agh.

Luck(3) that could have been much worse for the arena. (large red dragon, +2 Stronga, +3 Tougha, -3 Quicka. Gain immunity to fire attacks, plus Fire Breath spell(0 mana cost, doesn't use Awk). Next two turns. (higher awk means more turns shifted.))

Drake stands between Azer and the booze. Then he breaths fire.

Zap(2+3-1(multi-cast)=4)
A weak but effective blast of fire erupts from Drake's mouth.
(1vs.1+2=3) Only Azer's natural agility saves him from the flames.

Speaking of Azer, he's already on the move to the potions.
(6+2=8) Azer's already there, for that matter. One quick smash and his hands... oh dear the major health potion's missing. The minor will have to suffice. Luck(1) it seems to have no real aid beyond acting as a painkiller...
Azer shrugs, then grabs (even) the gender bender potion with his teeth, then with a mighty-head-twist, he sends it flying at Drake. (6-1(... teeth throw)=5vs.1-1=0) Oh dear, it has impacted. Drake Luck(6) Drake feels, oddly, more masculine.

The two fireballs sputter round each other for a moment, (2) then go after Drake.

Chord(5)
Zap(1+2=3)
Awk(4+2=6)

Within the spinning of the flames formeth a tiny sphere of fire. Then it fires at Drake, with incredible velocity.
(5+2(high awk high velocity projectile)=7vs.6-1=5) (3 vs. infinity) The tiny fire sphere strikes Drake in the skull. Nothing happens.

No? But perhaps the flame does nothing to him?
I think we are agreed on that.

Random Event(2) Null and void.

Avery shall, while attempting to keep the shield pointed at the beast, run through the door, fire a rainboom through the doorway, then slam the door. Then run away from the very angry beast, attempting to go into a workshop and get a strange mood.

((It's funny, I was hoping for a red dragon or some sort of fire breath. Time to return the burning from earlier.))

Chug more booze, then hit the potion stockpile with fire breath (and Azer hopefully). If Azer still lives, back away from the booze stockpile and hit the booze stockpile with fire breath.

Throw the potion of self explosion this time.

Turn Thirteen: Crowning Moment of Awesome

INIT
Avery(23+10=33)
Person(26+10=36)
Weremouse(39)
Forgotten Beast(36-10=26)
These rolls are odd.

Anyway, the Weremouse acts first.

The Weremouse attacks Person! (4vs.5-1+1=5) Person leans out of the way, feeling claws swipe past his eyebrows.

Person is the next to act, attempting to retaliate. (1) Then he collapses to the ground from pain. (aura: 3) He feels energy course through his wound, healing it partially. (still very painful, same will issue, but only -1 to dodge instead of -1 to all physical action).

Avery readies his shield, then begins some rather interesting acrobatics. (3+1=4vs.6-1=5) He flips over the table, moving to the side of the forgotten beast... then provokes an attack of opportunity. Tail Smash: (1vs.1+1-1=1) Avery luck(3) Avery gets smacked on the shield, but he manages to roll with the attack and roll to the side of the beast. Avery grumbles, then fires a Rainboom at the forgotten beast. Near point-blank.

Zap(5+3=8)
Awk(6)

Avery overdid it slightly. (it's not able to dodge. It's rather large in size, slow to dodge, and the Rainboom is an area attack.) (8vs.3+2=5) Searing droplets of liquid uranium sear the Forgotten beast all over its body. Luck(2) And they hit it where it counts. A screech of noise, a laugh, a death. (forgotten beast: mortally wounded, will die next turn. Still blocking the doorway.)

The forgotten beast(2+1=3) manages to raise its head slightly, enough to fire a shot of spittle(although inaccurate) at Avery.

(1-1=0vs.6-1+1=6) Avery smacks the spittle with his shield, somehow sending it flying back at the beast. It impacts(at this point, dodging is an impossibility). Luck(5) Thankfully for the beast, it doesn't hit anywhere important.

Random Event(2) You know the deal.

Spoiler: Person (click to show/hide)

Well that's certainly an improvement.
Giant laser beam! Try and hit both the beast and Avery if possible, but Avery is the most important target.

((Self explosion it is.))

Turn Nine: Outpouring of Mana, good and bad

INIT
Azer(59+20=79)
Drake(28-10=18)
Ang and Aen(27+10=37)

Azer grabs the potion of self explosion from the chest and sends it flying at Drake, using only his teeth.

(3-1=2vs.5-1=4) The potion shatters several yards from Drake. Azer Luck(2) The potion seems to melt into harmless vapors instead of exploding like a grenade or something.

He's not going to die any time soon, is he?
No, he's not.
So let us test the other one, yes?
Agreed.

Ang and Aen attack Azer, aiming an Anam attack. Amazingly alliterative.

Chord(6!)
Zap(5+3=8)
Awk(3+3=6)
(to put this in perspective, that's the same roll as Avery's Nuclear Rainboom that killed(nearly) the forgotten beast.)

A shard of flames-no, several, appear from the aether and spin towards Azer.

(2vs.1+2=3) Azer's robes receive several fiery cuts, but nothing sticks.

Drake grabs several alcohol bottles and swallows them whole. If he wasn't a dragon he'd be dead of cuts. Luck(6) Yeah, something's wrong here... magic seems to course through Drake's veins... (refilled, gain 10 temporary mana(can only be used in next two turns)). (more drunk than usual, -2 to Awk, +2 to Zap(same as drinking alcohol normally twice)).

Drake fires a spout of fire breath at the potion stockpile.

Zap(5+5=10)

(6vs. 0)

Considering the resulting fire ball is quite large, I think Azer's going to need to dodge. (2vs.2+2=4) The burn marks on Azer's robes intensify. Azer feels uncomfortably warm, but unfortunately he has bigger problems. The potion stockpile received a hit.

Azer Luck(6) The potions churn and bubble, suddenly exploding into a cloud of gas which encircles Azer, infusing him with power... Azer Crit Luck(2)... power not easily controlled. (gain 15 bane mana, mana which will explode for the bane mana's value in a damage roll after two turns pass. +1 to Zap, -1 to Awk when casting from bane mana.)

Turn Twelve: INIT 2.0, life. and misses.
Ahem.

Random Event(5) nada.
