You decide to head north into the Viridian forest. A woman accosts you along the way, telling you to be careful, and that the Viridian forest is a natural maze. Yet she doesn't try to stop you.

Entering the forest there is a boy look blankly at a tree. When you speak to him he says something about his friends catching bug pokemon in the forest. You see no one around him, and back away slowly.

Heading east, you spot a pokeball lying on some grass. Feeling kleptomaniac, you walk right over to it, but a pokemon jumps from the grass! It is a huge seahorse-dragon abomination. The pokedex beeps to life and identifies it as a "Kingdra"

What do you do?

As for grinding... I'm not thinking of going overboard, but a level 3 lolface is in a perilous situation. Presumably so is Boogaloo and our new friend here. I'd guess getting them to at least level 5 should be fairly quick and make them capable of engaging in fights against early wild pokemon without fear of imminent death.
