We held the first games to honor Nitig the God of War and Fortresses. He watched contentedly from his perch in the temple while the action took place below the glass floor. It was a Bronze Colossus against 6 Beak Dogs. Not really exciting actually but there seems to be a bug right now with pitting trolls and maybe Goblins.

When Kûbuk Cloistercrest arrived at Rockwhim, I thought he might be a vampire.  He had a family that hadn't accompanied him, numerous past group memberships, and high social skills, and I was determined to keep an eye on him.  My suspicions were needless.  When the werebull Utes Menacegrubs the Sun of Combating crushed his neck with one kick, he became winded.  Kûbuk was no night creature, just an old man who's lifelong dream of creating a great work of art would never be fulfilled.  But, despite this mortal injury, he refused to give up.  With a broken neck, two crushed hands, and a crippled knee, he crawled after the werebull and relentlessly tried to bite it.  With one hand and both legs bitten off, he kept fighting, doing his best to hold the monster's attention.  While soldiers gave in to far lesser wounds, Kûbuk fought until the moment he bled to death, fueled only by his indomitable will.  In his dying moment, he entangled the werebull with his clothing, impairing its greatest weapon.  Utes killed 13 dwarves, over half this young fort's population, but without Kûbuk's determination, it might have slain them all.  To Rockwhim, Kûbuk Cloistercrest is a hero, but I know how he would want to be remembered.

Rest in peace, artist.

Some scholars are discussing all their books in the library while nobody except a random off duty cheesemakers hangs out with them. We have no books. I am considering murder as a way to change this, not haveing figured out much else.

Aquifers are proving very difficult. I have successfully done the cavein method only to discover another aquifer directly below.

We may actually run out of food. I am letting them cook the booze.

This version is slowly killing me.

I don't have very many dwarves yet (I started an entirely new world and embark). I just finished my trade depot not too long ago. The first migrant wave has already been made, four children were brought along. I have 3 farmers.

I'm currently working on a dining room, but it isn't quite finished. I haven't set up the kitchen and food stockpile just yet, but I'm getting around to that.

When I was starting out, 2 dwarves married before I had even set up a farm.

The first group of human merchants arrived, I traded some gems and schist blocks for some cloth.

I haven't started a proper industry of any kind just yet, but I intend to do so quite soon.

I've accepted three dwarves today. One is a dwarven macedwarf pledging to be a mercenary to the fort, two are great musicans pledging to be performers. The musicians are also competent hammerdwarves but I've decided to keep them as bards for the moment because I like the idea of having dedicated musicians to lighten the mood.

Both my brawling gobbos succumbed to infection right after a goblin siege showed up. I had no idea what happened because they were never reported dead and slabbing them just said they went missing. I had to copy the save, go to legends and pull up their names.

I just had a vampire lye maker suck a mechanic dry right in the middle of a packed tavern and then had the pleasure to see over 100 people, visitors and citizens alike, flood in from the tavern to tell my captain of the guard what happened. Needless to say the lye maker will not be escaping justice today.

Just got my first artifact of this fortress... a cassiterite statue of a floating guts.

The dorf in question doesn't have a preference for floating guts(es), mind you. Just... felt like making a statue of one, I guess.

(How do you even make a stone statue of a Floating Guts? Isn't their distinguishing feature that they're transparent?)

How am I supposed to start a war with the elves when they've already been extinct in my last like, six worldgens? (Small Region, barely changed from vanilla: more minerals, a couple extra volcanoes and megabeasts, running to the year 300.)

So I genned a slightly modded world, and set up a tavern and a library on the roadside, while I waited for the Goblins to siege me.

In the second year of my fort, the Deceiver of Innocence sent its first siege against me. It was essentially a scouting-party, lacking mounts and actual goblins. When the Outpost Liason came next, I learned that other sites in my civilization, the Eviscerated Rims, had not been so fortunate.

In the third (or was it fourth?) year of my fort, a significantly larger force came, albeit with only two goblins (I was beginning to think them a dying breed) and no mounts. My military made short work of it. Meanwhile, other Dwarven sites were conquered by the enemy.

In the winter of my fourth year, it would seem that Ngerxung Ngusauksos (an Elf) and his Clownish master, Mudob Xosunmudo Ustru Baru, deemed Shieldpage worthy of actual attention. And so:

Did I mention I modded the game?

Is this biome reanimating? I really don't want to know what happens when "absurd numbers of megabeasts" is combined with "reanimating biomes".

I had my first square dance in the tavern.
It was beautiful with 3 musicians on the side and 8 dancers in a 4x4 square in coordinated moves.
A rare display of multi cultural harmony with dwarves, humans, elves, goblins and a single bird woman particilating.

Peace on Earth!   :-*
