My Steelsmiths have spent the last two years working on 30 of each of the 5 kinds of weapons trap components, in iron.  Too bad there's no flux on this map.  Good thing I have dozens and dozens of cage traps!  Of the last siege I had (the second one in the fort), of the two squads, only one goblin was not trapped.  The artificial volcano cone / sacrifice zone is nearly complete, and then Armok will be appeased with the sound of screaming, burning, melting goblins!

Finally got a decent embark after scumming about 30 worlds: flat Joyous wild moist forest x shrubland. 5 z-sky and 31 z-underground. Looking great.. oh wait, 100% sedimentary mean no iron ::)

EDIT: just saw savo's post, wish I could send a caravan to trade my dolomites for your irons :o

I have exactly 1 stack of prepared meal and 2 stack of raw meat. Right now it's 1st summer and there's nothing to defend the hoard.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This might be interesting.
It's just a downward cave style passage to the next cavern Nothing unusual. Same thing with deep pits. Worst that could happen is an FB gets through there.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

I think it's supposed to be vultures, but with bloody tile sets you never know.

I'm using IM+FD on phoebus tileset, they are all buzzards. Giant eagles look exactly the same but white. Yay for recolored sprites.

Finally got to use my tunnel of death for an incoming ambush. It worked perfectly, if a bit slower than I anticipated. I got to watch as the invading goblins were washed down the winding tunnels until they got to the end stretch... which is filled with stonefall traps. Sufficed to say, the walls at that end are coated in blood. One unlucky goblin survived, only to spend several minutes waiting for the tunnel to completely fill with water and drown him. It was quite horrific!

Now I'm building a reservoir so I can drain the tunnel. Minor oversight on my part, but I'd like to reuse this thing.

I'm getting 'Urist McDorf cancels gather web: cannot find path' continually spammed. I know there's a clear path to just about any webbing in the caverns, and i've disabled autocollect, but IT KEEPS HAPPENING!

Wow, that's awesome. Kinda like those killer whales that shoot up on shore to kill seals. Except without seals.
