A warhammer? Don't worry, he won't...

He better not. I have three dwarves with weaponsmithing skill to equal his. He is very expendable.

EDIT: damn ninjas.

EDIT2: He made a short sword. Will post description once I read it.

Speaking of ninjas, I just got a dwarvern thief.

Pity they can't be added to the military, or I'd use a genesis workshop to train their dodging up to legendary, give them an adamantine dagger, and adamantine clothes, and then make a sqaud of dwarvern ninjas.

Now use that sword to kill hell.

If adamantine is supposedly a demon-repellant, that sword should be like kryptonite to them.

I only stopped because the forge got to ☼CLT☼ status, as well as that being just over half of the wafers I had available.

Should have just started sticking platinum, gold and aluminum in.

Make the most decorative sword ever.

All he wanted was adamantine and a rough gem. Also, my custom-made slade warhammers weigh 80 kg, which is much less than I thought they would. I have four dwarves wielding them.

My weapon smith just made an iron mace depicting my now dead farmer, taunting a sea lamprey, and the sea lamprey killing him.

It made my day.

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

Just now I walked away from my computer and left DF running for a few minutes.  When I returned there was a report about a planter being interrupted by a fire man.  This confuses me greatly as there is no way for anything to get into my fortress from either the magma sea or any of the caverns.  Examination of the area does not give any clues as to how the fire man got in.

The planter punched the fire man to death, and then went right back to hauling rock, despite having the fat melted off several parts of his body.  He has so far declined any medical attention, and is still ecstatic.  I suppose I should make some soap or something in case he does start to get infected.

ETA:  On further consideration, I have nicknamed him "Firepuncher" and made him the new sheriff.

My great plan to build an above ground ice castle out of natural ice failed when the water froze in the pump stack as soon as it got above ground.

Next try will be a spiral pump tower with magma in every other row of the spiral to keep the water warm.

Since the spiral magma/water tower will look like a giant candy cane, I will name the fort DwarfPole

Wow, congrats.

Also, I think I've had a dwarven civ called The Honorable Standards. Coinkydink?

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
