The flashbang explodes in a burst of light. The sectoid hisses and recoils, blinded, but the drone's optics merely whir and readjust.

The skyranger set down, the gouge the UFO had torn across the forest hidden by a hill. The woods were dark, studded with boulders that loomed in the shadows. The smell of smoke filled the air, and the crackling of flames could be heard towards the crash site.
