The remaining soldiers moved up the road, but couldn't see farther than the ones who were already in position and ready to fire at incoming threats.

ALIEN ACTIVITY

Crazy moved forward. For a moment, he stayed still. The humming got louder, and a glowing light appeared at head height in the dark.
 
Metal manipulators twitched on the front of the rounded machine, a smooth ball of silvery metal and a glowing blue eye. Crazy didn't hesitate and snapped off a burst, the orb smoothly dodging the stream of fire. With the roar of gunfire, the night came alive. Other shapes moved, consolidated into two of the scampering greys and another spherical robot. The machines moved forward and the Sectoids took cover and prepared their weapons to fire.
