"Hm... If I saw that dwarf mom suggested he might be able to figure out why my weapon won't change, but that would be hella expensive... James doesn't seem to notice but it feels like there is someone else in his head making sarcastic gestures at the first two suggestions before nodding at the second one. Weird.

It's mainly about an rts game involving starships that shoot other starships. Also apparently suns can be blown up given sufficient weapon strength. He appears to be currently considering the advantages of making a star in a heavily fortified but resource rich system in his current playthrough go supernova. On one hand, it destroys a major stronghold, will destroy several other systems later on as the explosion reaches them, and will produce a nebula rich in rare metals. On the other hand it destroys a large amount of captureable major infrastructure, several Agriworlds, and a few Factoryworlds.

Hmm? Oh. You're that telepath from the common room yesterday.

Technically the end result is the same quantity of resources either way. Just on one hand they're condensed in a small area, where on the other they're spread across thirty astronomical units worth of black void and also happen to destroy several nearby strongholds. The rebuilding is a time cost though.

His train of thoughts trail off into romantic thoughts about the women he's met over the past day or so. Not even Ripols is safe. So... normal teenage boy stuff really.

Ripols makes a laughing feeling wash over james' mind.

James looks around in confusion for a minute before shrugging and going back to his thoughts.

Ripols makes a laughing feeling wash over james' mind.

However destroyed ships condense resources in an enemy's system. Not within mine should the attack fail. Said system is protecting several relatively undefended system due to its area of influence and gate networks. Planets condense from nebula in time, and nebula can be trawled and harvested for materials. A supernova produces rather rare resources on top of that. Ships take a time cost as well. And in a multifront war, wasting ships on a system when other systems need them more is damaging to the overall economy.

Well, it's also a pretty big hit to their wartime economy. If I nuke that system's sun, it destroys a major foundryworld. And down the line, destroys about twelve Agriworlds in different systems. Which they need to evacuate because people would start revolting if they didn't. So they would be forced to contribute warships from important systems to the evacuation effort, as well as rent several freighters from megacorps to aid in that as well. Ecowise, there's a major timecost to using the systems down the line, but it also fucks them over, and they have an even wider multifront war than I do.
