((The Zweihander and the Rapier/Estoc refute your first and second through fourth sentences respectively.  I can Google it all I want but history says otherwise.  They were both blades designed to damage or get around heavy armor.  Zweihander blades were often dulled to allow for greater ability to damage armor, thereby making bone crack and sever just as easily, while Estoc had dulled blades but sharpened tips.

You're talking about the wedge part. Not the tool/weapon itself.

Not the entire bloody weapon. A pickaxe is therefore not a blade. It has a bladed portion, but is not a blade on its own, unlike a sword, which is a blade.
