Mantling of the Gods [Turn 10: Symbiosis]
« on: April 28, 2015, 02:01:11 am »

The void beckons, and entities answer its call. Gods, ready to make worlds and life, people and places, cities and ruins.

However, not every god is suited to every task. The gods that answer are hulking, formless things, abominations with no ties to reality; to affect the world, they will need to shed some of their cumbersome power. For every Mantle of raw might they shed, the universe is made richer and their finesse and connections to the world grows; for every Mantle they take up, their power grows as their subtlety and connections to reality diminish.

The void beckons, and the gods answer it. But it is not just their actions and desires that will shape existence, but their decisions and resolve on themselves.

Name: Dominus
Preferred Appearance Themes:
A towering behemoth sculpted of iron and wrought in pride. Cogs and gears turn eternally, grinding and pounding and hissing. His face is generally a blank, metal mask with the simplest of faces, betraying no emotion, perhaps other than arrogance. The metal casing around Him is made of steel and cold iron, inlaid with gold. On His chest is a magnificent mosaic of a heart, pulsating gently with heat and pride. However, if one were to peel back that mosaic, they would find a petty, twisted black shell that was once a heart.
Personality:
Arrogant to many faults, domineering, selfish and self-righteous, Dominus views Himself as above all others, even though he might not be. He insists that all personal pronouns for Him be capitalized, as is His right. He has a sense of honor, though twisted in His favor, and values ambition, courage and greatness. Even potential greatness. Paradoxically, He favors the underdog instead of the obvious winner because He believes those who are not great who defeat those who are great are greater than the greatest.
Goals:
To leave behind the greatest monument to Himself, far greater than any other gods' in all eternity.

Dying of laughter?
Dying of pure unbridled hatred, actually.

Name: Alerama
Preferred Appearance Themes: Red gas cloud. Small red rodent. Red-haired humanoid female child.
Personality: The newborn abonimation is like to compete with other gods, but for her competition is a game to make life funnier and she doesn't want to kill anyone because this will mean less partners to play with
Goals: She wants to create a huge playground and mortal toys to play. And toys for mortals to play.

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

Name: Planner
Preferred Appearance Themes: He tends to an insectile theme, usually taking the form of a termite, ant, bee, butterfly or cicada, .
Personality: Planner will often spend long periods of time, completely still, simply watching the world, observing, while he slowly crafts intricate series of actions that he should take to reach a desired end. If this variable is adjusted just so, and that agent is provoked with a certain amount of offence, then things should play out in the following manner. Of course, when his plans fail, he tends to freeze up, his complete inability to act in the moment, without prior planning, making him particularly vulnerable to surprises and unpredictable elements.

To make up for this, he often makes several contingency plans, and has a wide variety of general plans for possible events that might happen. If the sun were to explode he might have been ready to uplift the creatures living around deep sea vents, laying the groundwork long ago.

Socially, if he chooses to initiate interaction with other, he tries to play out possible scenarios ahead of time, and when talking to them tries to follow a script in his head. If the other party doesn't follow the script, he quickly starts resorting to monosyllabic responses, quietly panicking on the inside.

However, things go surprisingly better when other initiate interactions, since he can see it coming, and guess what they are coming to him about pretty accurately , allowing him to come up with appropriate responses ahead of time (reaction versus proaction). Should something fall completely outside his expectations however, he tends to become a mumbling mess.

He tends to put his goals above whatever emotions he might have.
Goals: Planner has a grand vision, of a universe perfectly organized, running like smooth clockwork, with a place for everything, and everything in its place. He wishes to organize what can be organized and work around "chaos elements" until they are just another part of the system, a vast machine working constantly to improve itself, to reach new heights of knowledge, introspection and power.

Name: Da'at
Preferred Appearance Themes: A four-armed humanoid dressed in gold and white robes, often surrounded by mist or clouds. A golden halo seemingly made out of pure light hovers above his head. His eyes are as blue as the sky.
Personality: Extremely dreamy. He avoids eye contact and always seems to stare into the distance. He never seems to pay attention to anyone, whilst he is actually intensively listening. He barely talks himself, but instead likes to communicate by showing intense visions or flashbacks to them.
Goals: Balance and preservation on a large scale. He does not care about a single life, but tries to make entire civilizations survive. If he saves a single life, it's probably because one of their great-great-great grandchilderen will do something to maintain the universe's balance.

Is this game limited to an absolute number of people or is the player cap theoretically infinite? I'd like to see the game in action before I spend time working on a personality.

Sheet is coming.

Name: Maker
Preferred Appearance themes: A tree, a
Personality: The Maker thinks slowly and thoroughly, often staring at his creations. It's works through every aspect of it's creations, refining them until they can be let alone to live long and fruitful lives. It is quite like the planner, except that it thinks that chaos presides in all things, and all things that are unknown are therefore unpredictable, possibly even those it makes itself.
Goals: To make the ultimate race, capable of dominating all others.

Name: Shevel
Preferred Appearance Themes: An elderly creature of varying appearance, a floating spinning disc is always found following the deity in whatever form she takes. When possible, she adorns herself with objects or forms of a bluish hue.
Personality: Shevel, in a word,  is motherly. She treats her fellow deities with polite respect and the denizens of the universe as children. At times, she enjoys a small joke but is nearly never one to disrespect others. This said, Shevel is quick to make a long-lasting grudge against those who would interfere with her goals, casting away her politeness in favour of insults and all-out war. She is quick to aid those who seem to require it but also expects the same in turn. Shevel adores knowledge and believes that acquiring more knowledge is one of the main purposes of all intelligent minds.
Goals: To foster the spread of civilised life, lead them into progress and allow them to discover the universe created by the gods. She believes that sapient life, carefully nurtured, are the epitome of Creation. She will fight to defend them from those who threaten progress, risking her existence to do so.

Name: Ol'kuur
Preferred Appearance Themes: Brains, skulls, eyes - Ol'kuur's forms are never even remotely humanoid, but always incorporate at least one body part that seems of humanoid origin.
Personality: Ol'kuur considers himself a crafter of oddities, whether they are creatures, things, or more abstract things. The stranger what he creates, the better he likes it. He is willing to work with other in creative endeavors, should they accept his input on how to "improve" their works. Outside of a few exceptions, however, he isn't likely to care about what his creations do or are used for - whether havoc or happiness reigns through or for his creations isn't of any concern to him, as long as his current favorites are safe.
Goals: Ol'kuur seeks the creation of The Masterpieces. Almost by definition, he can't be certain what they will be, except that they will be different from each other, and that they will be obvious in some fashion.

Name: Ignis.
Preferred Appearance Themes: A fire burning the color of his emotions. Normally red, but can change based on circumstances. Hotter (or colder) than a normal flame.
Personality: Destruction. That is one word to describe Ignis. Those who misunderstand him may view his powers with fear and anger, but he does not see himself as an unmaker. Passion. This word too can be used to describe him. Ignis burns with passion for any number of things, be it good or bad; negative or positive. However, unchecked passion is a danger to all, and he views it as foolhardy. Power? Creation? Life? Fire can mean any number of things. Fire is the origin and destruction of all, and attempting to interpret it so single-mindedly is both stupid and insulting. Ignis finds the joy and hate in fire; the ability to both take and give. He finds pleasure in what others would see as senseless destruction, but also cherishes those quiet, happy moments that make life worth living. Many would see him as chaos, few would see him as order. He acts as the flame would, and turns whichever way the wind blows.
Goals: Ignis desires balance; he does not wish to see massive destruction, just as he detests the 'perfect' utopia. No one super-civilization, but constant warfare would be just as detestable. His goals are primal and innate to his being. He understands that life and death go hand in hand, and there cannot be one without the other.
