So I found out how to turn the music in Dwarf Fortress off.

Which would be fine except it plays constantly even during world generation and at this point I have to leave it in the background FOREVER!

But who here also does this?

I was also told world generation is "fixed" and just general loading is "fixed" so right now I am creating my large world. I'll be excited when it is done.
Attempt 1: It crashed O_o
Attempt 2: It works, and it didn't make a TERRIBLE world... There are even megabeasts left... though the Trolls have almost died off.

I do, normaly Erdenstern or some other phantasy themed music runs instead.

I turn the music off. Normally I'll be listening to a podcast or somesuch instead.

After the third or fourth hour, the DF theme gets repetitive. I'm still hoping we'll eventually get to listen to procedurally generated music of the culture of our fortress as the theme.

I turn the music off when I am playing during between classes at school, or if I am in a public room.
On the other hand I have turned on the music at work just so I have something to listen to while coding.

I think the only music that fits DF dwarf mode is it's theme, and I never turn it off.

I do, tough, turn it off when I'm playing adventure mode, and play Chrono Trigger music.

Except when the fighting starts, then it's the Chrono Trigger encounter theme.

I turn it off as well. I used to leave it on, but it's on a fairly short loop and it got too repetitive.

I used to leave it on, but after the first hundred hours or so it starts to grate on the nerves. These days I either use soundsense or just load up a playlist in the background to fit my current mood.

Heh, it doesn't play in adventure mode regardless of settings.

Anyway, yeah, too much time listening to one song makes you crazy. No way am I keeping that on for too long.

I have to say the music is too comfortable to listen while playing. It makes you feel very good, and then forget to build a well, or lock the door to cavern, etc.
