Now that we are temporarily safe, I give a stirring speech to my crew. "Zormod..." "Zazimo" He corrects me. "you give me as much power in those Engines as you can manage, and you, Oobleck..." "E. Jack" He interrupts me "Whatever" I continue "You help these weapons lock on faster."

I am great at speeches.

With that stirring speech, I feel that the morale is high enough for us to jump. I take a look at the sector map:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Since the Rebels are trying to track us down, I decide that it would be safest to travel through the nebula to get them off my scent.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Immidiately after coming out of the jump, I see an automated scout faintly in the clouds. I jam their transmissions so that it couldn't get any information to the Rebel Fleet. But to my dismay, it starts to charge its jump drive. I have to destroy it before it can get away! I cloak out its laser blast and counterattack with my duel lasers to take out its shield, and my beam to disable its weapons, shield, and helm. I destroy him with one more burst of lasers. Hopefully, the Rebels don't know where I am.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
With only one new beacon in range, my choice is obvious.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Once I arrive, a ship claims that its weapons are "malfunctioning." To me, their weapons just look like their "turned off" but who am I to judge? Anyway, they ask me to escort them home so they can avoid Piarates. I have my own problems to deal with, but they offer me fuel. How could I decline?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
They give me the fuel as promised, but I think I hear chuckling from their side as they say "Don't want to take any risks, now do we?" I don't trust them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I mark their destination on my map, and decide to head in that direction. My sensors detect a ship that way anyways, so I jump.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I stumble across a foreward scout of the Rebel Fleet. Just like the scout, they immediately try to jump away. I can't let that happen. This ship was more dangerously armed than its predecessor, however. It had an attack drone. At least it is not a beam drone, but it certainly is dangerous. I cloak right at the beginning in order to give my dual laser a chance to fire on their drone control. The drone got one hit, but E. Jack shot well and disabled the drone control. The enemy shield came up right before my beam was charged, so I cancelled the shot. By this time, their missile was launched and it hit in the Oxygen, so I ordered E. Jack to fix it. Once the dual laser was charged, I shot it at the shield and opened a gap for the beam to disable their Shields, damage their Engines, and Destroy their Drone Control. They fired one last missile, and it threw me against the wall as it blew up in my face, but it was only one quick volley that ended their lives.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I tuned to the local broadcasting network and discovered that the Rebel Fleet was still quite far behind me, so I decided to take a detour to gain some more resources.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I instead run into a slaver demanding one of my crew. I replied, "have this lumberjack guy" and he said, "NO! I pick a random person!" I was like, "Could that be me?" He yelled back, "YES, IT COULD BE YOU!" So I screamed, "WELL, SCREW THIS, ATTACK!!!" Unfortunately, he had a beam drone and a mini beam. With no shields, they could do some serious damage. Luckily for me, I timed my cloak just right so I disabled his drone, damaged his Engines, and Destroyed his Oxygen and Weapons before he could even fire at me! I launched the final volley and was about to destroy them when they suddenly froze time and offered me a pet Preying Mantis.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Preying Mantis happen to be my favorite animal, so I accepted. I told him that my lasers and beam were already on there way and he had no way to dodge them, but the slavers disregarded me. To my amazement, my beam and lasers suddenly did no damage. I wondered what the slavers did to accomplish that, and why they didn't do that in the first place, but I decided not to question it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I named my new pet "Broken" and put him in the door room. I decided to continue jumping towards the quest.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Apparently, some pirates hacked my engines. Zazimo did the bare minimum to keep them working. The Pirate was not very well armed. However, he somehow managed to get a 2 damage shot through the cloak. I would have been able to dodge it if Zazimo had done a better job keeping the engines working. I hear Zazimo scream "Fire! Fire!" I consider letting him burn, because it was his fault anyways, but I decide that my life was worth more than that, so I sent E. Jack and Broken in there to help him. Did you know that Preying Mantis know how to use Fire Extinguishers? They are just twice as slow as humans? Just an interesting fact. Anyways, back to the battle. I fire my lasers and beam and destroy his weapons and Oxygen and I damaged other stuff as well. Regardless, He died quickly Afterwards. Of course, NOW Zazimo was able to fix the Engines.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I continue towards the Quest beacon.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Once I arrive, I try to hide, but a Rebel Ship sees me and opens fire.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I hide for real this time, and come out of hiding disabling his weapons. I then fire on his shields leaving him defenseless against my beam, which kills him.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I didn't get much loot, but it always feels good to destroy rebel ships.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
As I jump towards the quest, I wonder if those guys in that ship are gonna back stab me or not.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Sure enough, the second they come out of jump, they teleport into my reactor and start tampering with it. "Broken, kill! KILL!" But the cowards teleport back to their ship. I expect all of the lights to go out at any moment, but they actually get brighter. It appears that they actually increased my reactor. Without another word, I jump.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I see a store on the map and head for it, even though it might waste some time later on. I feel that it is worth it to get this ship some shields. Unfortunately, they don't sell any shields, but I take the time to contact the Federation Command and inquire about how I would best continue. I show them all of my ship and the stores information. What should I do?

Spoiler: buy info (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: sell info (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: ship info (click to show/hide)
It is your turn to decide what I buy, sell, and upgrade. Keep in mind that I will need lots of scrap to buy the shield system when I eventually find one.
More information: The dual lasers sell for 12, the mini beam sells for 10, the long range scanners sell for 15, and the titanium system casings sell for 40.

I vote to buy the burst laser II, that's the best weapon bar none. And repair ofc.

No need to sell anything, yet.

Could also grab a human and the fire beam, and get only one short of a full repair.

I need to save up for shields though. Don't want to go crazy.

we can always sell the titanium casing and the old weapons if we don't have enough for shields once we found a store that offers them, if we don't have enough. but i think we probably will.

Remember that I can only upgrade systems at a shop as well. (Just a rule I'm playing with to make the game more interesting) So if you want a weapon, make sure to include the cost for upgrading the system and power.

In that case.. don't buy or sell anything.  Titanium casing is kind of worthless, but I don't see any reason to sell it yet if you've got nothing to buy.
Upgrade engines by one, that's it.  In battle, turn off oxygen to power the engines.
Edit: and repair, too.

In battle, turn off oxygen to power the engines.

How about improve the reactor to support both?

It's not a bad idea, since we'll need the power later on.  But I like to save up everything I can just in case there's something good to be had in the next couple of shops.
Powering oxygen and medbay is a luxury... that's two power that could be used elsewhere in battle.
However, if you want to upgrade power too, I'll +1 it to get the ball rolling.

I just want to let you guys know that I wouldn't do ANY of the things you are recommending in real life. In other words: Good Job!
I'll compile a list of the recommendations. Also, do you like the way I present the update? Is there anything you recommend I change?

1. Buy Engine level 5, 1 power, 6 repair (32 scrap leftover) +1
2. Buy burst Laser Mk. 2, 6 repair. (12 scrap leftover)
3. Buy Fire Beam, human, 4 health. (1 scrap leftover)

Note: I am gonna plan for 1 major update each weekend.
