Best not go to the ancient one, then, considering our awful diplomacy.

Go to the youngest one.

Hooray for making contacts. Also ask her what's life like here and tell her about the tower.

An who runs what here. The witches or these elders.

1d20-1(Little experience or training in diplomacy)= 13
You make your way to the witch closest to your own age as she seems the most likely to be welcoming. You make your way over, introduce yourself and seat yourself on the log that has been made into the groups makeshift bench. The young woman's name is Marsali, currently an apprentice to a witch not currently in town. She wears her light hair tightly braided, her right hand is thickly calloused, and her way is witty and quick to laugh. She and her friends are quick to get you more food and drink and equally quick in asking you to regale them the tale of Nathuiage's slaying, and of your other exploits. You have few things to tell, no great battles to your name or trophies of slain monsters to show off, but still you manage to capture some mild interest from your audience, in talking about life at the tower. Soon they have you show off your talent for fire magic by drawing fire from the bonfire to light a few torches as night begins to envelope the revelry.

In turn you ask Marsali about her own talents and life here in the swamp. She explains that she's the daughter of a skilled fighter and a now dead witch, and that she's in training not to learn advanced witchcraft, but merely to learn the basics of subtly whispering to plants and beasts. She plans to walk the swamp-paths when she is finished learning, protecting and maintaining them.

Her friends seem to share her easy temperament, and you learn that such is the way of things in Three-Rings. The town is largely a trading village, and the only one of it's like in the swamp-lands. The rest of the Tuathé villages are much less trusting and easy with others, the people of these lands are said to have long memories, and tales are still told of when the Aldrelim armies crushed their ancestors. It's considered a grievous insult by some that New Aldrelim is largely considered the tongue of the land, hundreds of years later. As things stand now the villages are largely disunited, with the local elders and the occasional warrior chieftain settling disputes and making decisions. The witches however are largely the factor that keeps the villages working together, they work in concert with one another, and are largely the power that keeps the Tuathé safe from their enemies. They keep the old alliances with the harpies alive, spirit away murderers that need punishing, and cruelly crush threats as they come to the people.

...

Eventually your companions lose interest in your serious questions, and they encourage you much as Gormflaith did, to loosen up. Some encourage you to drink more, others to join in the music and the dancing, and more than a few ask you to give a proper showing of your magic. It also occurs to you that you are a keeper of many tales and songs, and it's possible that your knowledge of folklore could leave an impression. Of course some of that same folklore tells you that these same people of the old world can be very dangerous when you drop your guard, whether that is superstition or not you are not sure, but it could also be wise to keep your wits about you.

We are a Tower Mage! ... to be
We should be reeally careful here, as to not do something stupid.

Lay off the drink, get our tales going
This is a safe bet. No more drink, means we won't get into anything bad. Telling some tales, will contribute to the good mood.

Yeah, I say "no" to the partying. It can turn out bad in various ways, especially after we got the comment of our "warding bracelet" having taken quite the damage in Nathuiage's fight.

Either way, partying in friendly lands, is one thing. In foreign ones, you should watch alcohol intake far more carefully.

I don't think giving tales of our old homeland would be wise. If the tales spread far enough then our people and family could be in danger.

Lets just show a little light magic and then dance with this future dead witch.

Local Folklore: +5

Meaning folklore in our area.

In fact..

"It also occurs to you that you are a keeper of many tales and songs, and it's possible that your knowledge of folklore could leave an impression. Lets be politicians and keep our cards close to ourselves.

First Circle Apprentice of the Bronze Tower

1d20+4(Local Folklore) 24 (NAT TWENTY)
You settle in among the Tuathé clansmen to tell some of the old tales you are so well versed in. Despite the language barrier, many of the names of ancient folk heroes and monsters are familiar to these people, who have likely heard their own versions of these tales. Your recollection of those stories however, is a great deal more vivid than many tellings, and deals in aspects of those stories that these people have never before heard. As you begin to tell the story of Krógacht a hush falls over the listeners, and a few more are drawn in to listen. You chose the tale deliberately, due to its similiarities to the apparent outlook of the Tuathé clansmen. It's the story of a warrior who accomplishes a series of tasks at the whim of a spirit who has her in its thrall, but who ultimately binds that same spirit to his own will and becomes a great leader of both men and beasts.
When you've concluded the story Marsali quite urgently asks you where you've heard it. When you respond it's simply a childhood story, she hushes her voice and tells you that this tale is particularly secret among their own people. It is the story of the founder of the entire clan.

The affair is quickly brushed over after a few surreptitious looks, with only a relatively few number having heard your retelling. Nontheless, the dynamic around you shifts, and your stories throughout the note are offered a great deal more attention. as the night progresses more and more of those gathered give you strange looks, of a mix between uncertainty and respect. Little else of note occurs however, you have already eaten your fill, and arn't of the mind to drink much, so you are forced to often turn down offerings of food and drink made by those who wish to offer you something for another story. You give those stories regardless.

...

When morning comes you are offered a rather decent breakfast by the clansmen, and are visited by Marsali, the young witch who you had spoken with the night before. "Gormflaith has told me that you came here seeking rare plants. I'd like to help you find them." Still blinking the sleep from your eyes, you tell her you will consider it.
In the meantime, it would seem that Alafard has drunk too much the night before, and is in ill condition. Your combined share of the spoils from slaying Nathuiage has already been bundled for you however, and it would seem to be a generous portion of meat, scales and herbs. The clansman that offers the bundles to you treats you with more respect than you have become accustomed to from those of the clan, even the friendly ones.

Recap please. Two years is a long time.
Oh wow. Somehow i forgot quite how long it had been.

You are Jehundik Vanyik. You were raised in the town of Ask-Heart, a sleepy hamlet unknown to the rest of the world. It was there that you originally met with a mysterious sorceress, who gave you a book of cantrips and directions to a place she implied could provide you with magical instruction. You set out from your home with a pair of companions, a childhood friend and a local fisherman, in hopes of finding this place.
Though you met with some amount of trial and tribulation on the way there, you eventually found your way to the town of Ravok's Roost, a vassal-town to the mages in control of the area, who you learned were based in the Bronze Tower, a place you were familiar with only from legend. It was not long from that point that you petitioned the tower to take you as an apprentice, and in exchange for promising your eighteenth birthday to the tower in an un-named ritual, your petition was accepted.

You were provided with a servant, and swore your service to a mage of the fourth circle named Saufelta Greytower. She accelerated your studied in magic, and evnentually sent you out to the nearby swamplands of the Tuathe clan in order to gather some of the unique magical herbs that grow there, apparently needed for her research into splicing magical plantlife. In exchange for permission to gather those plants, you agreed to help their warriors hunts a creature named Nathuiage, the boar serpent. You and your servant rendered vital aid in that task, and since were taken to their village to celebrate in that victory.

How to go about the task of gathering the supplies you were sent here for. I didn't want to overwhelm with too much at once.
