What was the actual religion of the Archbishop of Moun?  I started calling it Mounish Heterodoxy in spin-off games, where it was an Orthodox offshoot whose principal difference was the non-exclusion of other religions, but I'm fuzzy on what it really was.

Question whats Hatcuri culture like, I've looked at the wiki but it didn't say very much

Well I made them up so feel free to ask any questions.

Actually, here's a summary of Hatcuri history:

1. Hatcuri civilise. Emperor crowned
2. Hatcuri create Elvs and humans
3. Humans and some Elvs rebel
4. Hatcuri Empire defragments; Emperor becomes figurehead
5. Hatcur (the 'Far South') becomes colonised by Elberethians led by an exiled noble and Cyclist priest. Only a small portion is settled with Hatcuri retaining control of the rest of the continent.
6.  Present day Hatcur.

http://youareking.wikia.com/wiki/Religion

I found the wiki for the old games, it has the stuff on religions and so on.

Boy do I wish to use it again.... but I think it will have to wait until the game is actually properly under way.

Oh right, Fakarralism is the Hatcuri religion.

How progressive is current Hatcuri society, also where is Hatcur relative to Elberth at present? (I'm getting northish vibe but perhaps a bit more specific)

Current Hatcuri states are defragmented but in general, they're somewhat traditional. Lands ruled by the Emperor or his 'vassals' are orthodox and still follow the traditional customs. This isn't to say that innovations aren't made, but that ingenuity isn't encouraged. Oman-Ebect, ruled by the Sassanad have similar customs. Humatiaten, with its large human population, is somewhat more progressive due to the shorter lifespan of its inhabitatns. The Curiates are...very progressive. Imagine the Telvanni from Morrowind but with a willingness to experiment with technology. Their rulers have no qualms about dealing with demons or lobotomising their slaves to create more efficient servants. On the other hand, they also don't care for the old rules of Hatcur and many are agnostic or misotheists.

Hatcur is in the Far South. They're based on a combination of Mesoamerican, Chinese, Indian and Mali culture.

This seems less like steampunk and more like Napoleonic. Damn, I should've made a character when I had the chance. Is there a waitlist?

Haha, clever. I didn't think that particular game would be very canon, but a nice touch anyway.

For some reason I thought my fluff for the Taloists was lost forever, but there it is. Glad to see it remains, even if my current char's only use for religion so far in his life has been to denounce it as a tool of control over the masses. Maybe that will change when he embraces his heritage. Wonder if Cyclism has a justification for why people should be free and equal?

Well, it might go back and forth between those things but no, there is no waitlist atm. All applications are selected on basis of merit and atm I'm still gathering them, although we might be close to having a good number.

Still, I'll wait a bit more, maybe another king application will appear.

@giglamesh - so good so far.

Its fine, I was just seeing if there are any other takers for a king position but Erika is just as good as well. I will consult with Ghaz on the final selection soon.

5. Hatcur (the 'Far South') becomes colonised by Elberethians led by an exiled noble and Cyclist priest. Only a small portion is settled with Hatcuri retaining control of the rest of the continent.
6.  Present day Hatcur.

That reminds me.  I think we worked out that point two in that history is pretty much not known along the Storm and Mirish Coast.

Another bit of History, actually:

An abbreviated history of the Mirish Coast

The Mirish Coast (upon which this game takes place) borders the Storm Coast to the south-west, north of the sub-tropical regions of Korlan and Aphti and east of the Ztah Steppe.

In the distant past, the whole of the Mirish Coast from Weyland to Lonemine and from Brighthall to Suul was part of a single kingdom - Miring.  As with most golden ages, not a lot is really recalled of it, except that the descendant kings of its latter states all claimed lineage to the original Mirish throne.

Miring ruled for hundreds of years in glory and pomp - until the Trubaldsome dynasty ascended the throne.  Decades of vicious politicking and incompetent management permitted the state of Miring to collapse into a number of smaller states; Brighthall, Elbreth, (lesser) Miring, Preston, Weyland and Suul.  The arrival of the Father of Suul approximately coincided with this collapse, and Orthodoxy spread throughout the region.

This state continued for some time, until 315a and the events that took place in You are King I resulted in the establishment of the barony (and later independent kingdom) of Lonemine by a crazed Elv, the conquest of Miring by Preston (in no small part due to the actions and erratic luck of one Terenos d'Avistral) and the eventual collapse of the entire region.  Elbreth was split apart by the surrounding states and the region returned once again to stability.

Other events continued on a hundred years later (420a and thereabouts) on the Storm Coast that broadly brought about the Renaissance of the region.  The Queen of Ligoria is heavily to blame for that (YaK II).

How are things now, who knows?  But it's maybe 600a, 700a by this time?  I gather we'll find out.

History of the Storm Coast Continued:

i don't want to disclose too much here but some snippets of info for a rough overview whats going on.

Three Hundred years have passed since the End of the Tempest Wars (that erupted at the end of YAK II if i recall correctly) which caused the collapse of the Ligorian Empire and a return to the bickering city states of the Storm Coast.

Over the years Preston established itself as a major power on the Coast, with its Banking Clans taking Control of it and turning it into a mercantile hub, thanks to the impoverishment of Groaning, Vasir and others due to their Trade Wars. Preston is also the current owner of Suul, Miring and Elbreth and will be your greatest enemy at the beginning.

Brighthall in the West has always been larger and with the Invention of Gunpowder subjugated the Ztah Steppes through long and gruelling campaigns, which in the end caused the Death of one of the last Kings of Brighthall and the War of the Four Princes which lasted for a good 200 years and continues till today, splitting up Brighthall into Four Parts. You will propably only deal with Eastern Brighthall, which is ruled like and Eastern European Princedom more or less.
Weyland stayed Weyland in all those years. Not much changed there, except it grew, became larger and its Mercenaries ventured ever further, serving now in places you propably haven't even heard of yet. It is relatively wealthy and has a Three Class System, The actual Weylanders, who mostly serve as Mercenaries, the Freedman Slaves, which have served their ten year tenure and now are living as a relatively wealthy and influental middle class in Weyland and finally the Slaves forming the bottom rung.
Groaning after many trade wars finally annexed Vasir and other city states after the finish of the trade wars...which impoverished the completely. While they are slowly recovering, Preston is still a competitor which outclasses them at every turn.
Generally the Many States of the Storm Coast have been reduced to fewer more powerful and usually more wealthy states. But it is as it has always been, constant bickering prevents a unified Country to emerge...but all of that may yet change.

In any case the rest will be explained and a map will be delivered in the first IC post.
