Couldn't find a topic about this yet and I thought some Bay12/Other_games people might like this. It's one of those "incremental games" where you just push buttons and get rewarded with upgrades (like the more famous CookieClicker).

You can just play it in your browser, savegames are saved client-side and it has no graphics, so it's totally dwarvish :)

The "mental ward white" graphic style reminds me of Dark Room. Sadly, unlike DR and Candy Box, this is just an idle game, and features no game play shifts.

Out of the billions of games like this that do nothing to distinguish themselves from the crowd. This is one of them. ( I guess the energy mechanic is slightly a thing. But not really worth it.)

It's well done. Yeah theres no doodads like Candy Box but the interrelationships of the different "currencies" is pretty fun to play with and the numbers get really huge. As you get further in, new systems open up so there is more to the progression than first meets the eye.

Anyway, I'm "playing" Adventure Tycoon which is much simpler but somehow these games are still addicting.

The multiple currencies is a pretty awesome concept. I love the exponential growth, but...

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

And them spells are incredibly powerful.
I have no idea why anyone would ever use anything but the time skip power because it's incredibly powerful compared to everything else.
One thing I find interesting is larva, because they seem to be the only stumbling blocks that actually slow down my progress, meat after a while is incredibly plentiful so larva really pushed me to only use the more powerful unlocks, not to mention how insanely powerful each type is compared to the lower tiers, the territory grabbers show this the most.

Before I get to into this.

Is this a good game of this kind to lose time with and go "WTF am I doing with my life"...or are there better alternatives to this style of game?

I believe candy box one and two are still my favorites of this type of game (although they are not really THIS type of game per say. But. Eh. close enough.) Followed by A dark room. Since they actually have. Like. Stuff. Otherwise all the other games are pretty much the same. This one has a good theme I guess.

Its something to play when you are too tired to play a real game.  Its not even really a game, just day waster.

Then again its fun to imagine this hypothetical world that has 327 sextillion queen bugs running around on it.  Not a world I'd like to visit.

I played for 2-3 days. And by "days" I mean 5-10 minutes. I'd say it's mediocre at best.

Sure. Lots.

I think the best one I can recommend is Idling to Rule the Gods. Give it a try. I think it's the best idle game I've ever played. It is however, fairly complex. Expect to play for at least a month to "beat" it.

Next up, Clicker Heros managed to hold my interest for a while. It's not nearly as complicated as the previous, but it offers a good sense of progression. If you try it out, be aware that the upgrade systems don't unlock until after your first ascension.

Then there's Tangerine Tycoon, which is terribly amusing, but doesn't have a lot of staying power. Unlike the previous two that become more interesting after time, Tangerine Tycooon has a couple quirks that are fun the first playthrough or two, then after that it's all the same. Not a long term game, but definitely worth playing for a few days if you enjoy the genre. If you do play this, don't read the spoilers.

Finally, I'll offer up Idle Conquest, which is actually not a very good game. It's poorly designed, badly balanced and in general kind of weak. But it also has Catherine Von Conqueror, an adorable protagonist with a strong "Fluffy the Terrible" streak. She chats with you while you play and definitely makes the game worth checking out.

But yeah, if you're looking for an actually "good" game in the genre, I suggest Idling to Rule the Gods.

Clone Larvae gets wicked powerful after a while (when you get enough hatcheries and expansions to cause it to be more powerful than using the energy on Larva Rush), especially if you actually make use of Cocoons to provide guaranteed things to clone. Swarmwarp's main strength is to shore up your production with a quick burst.
