Sure, then we'd have someone with the skill in case Cathelyn died. Though I encourage people, if they add skills, to think of something not currently represented, or something there are very few of but you would be extremely sorry without. For instance, we have only one capable shuttle pilot at the moment, barring AI.

((As a note. Fighters are pretty pointless in space. Bombers/missile platforms make more sense.

Thanks to those who suggested things.

InsaneGamer, I have to ask something.

Why've we recruited an in-atmosphere combat jet pilot when our space-only exploration-focused starship has docking for one SSTO shuttle? It just seems incongruous. While we badly need a fleshy pilot for the Aelius (Who will probbably double as Captain unless someone finally steps up to the task) and a backup transporter pilot, I don't get how 'Bomber support' is a useful or relevant main focus

Also, didn't heydude imply his race was ignorant of space stuff, and he had to be taught about it after he was captured?

Do hope this last a while. Seems very interesting, and something to waste my time with.

So, discounting the AI-bud, the stowaway, and Insanegame27's character (since I'm not sure if I'll accept it yet), that means we start with a crew of 13, just one over the planned 12.

Let's get any revisions out of the way so we can begin. I'd be willing to go with most of these if you don't want to revise, but Gooderthangood, your character needs more skills. High Tyrol, we should probably expand your character's knowledge of chemistry.

'Waste time' seems like a very negative way of looking at these things. 'Invest' time seems better--you're improving your literary skills, narrative skills, and the usual 'common sense' skills by doing all this, including dealing with other people! :P
Though that's also only if you'd move for doing those. :P

Also I'm unsure about my summary--I have added ways to 'detect' entities, so perhaps a use for scouting or as a field doctor would work too. (Sadly I can't act as a secondary 'sensor' within the ship unless I can talk to the AI to 'turn off everything' due to thermal conduction pretty much everywhere other than the usual open space inside the ship)
