Ah, yes, Facebook election season has begun. The first acquaintance has reshared an image macro comparing Hillary Clinton to Hitler. I'm sure there's more to come in the months ahead...
That's an insult to Hitler. At least he could un-fuck an economy.

Only because the economy was bad because of a mixture of "massive war reparations draining all the backing from the money" and "Hitler was sabotaging it".

You forgot "middle of the Great Depression". Also, he was an extremely competent civilian politician and leader. It was on the military front that he sabotaged Germany, which is why Rommel and friends wanted to kill him.

Extremely competent civilian politician and leader? I'm sorry, but I'll have to ask for a citation on that one. It runs counter to everything I've ever heardd or read, and as a German I've read quite a bit about the Anstreicher. And you're thinking of Stauffenberg, not Rommel.

Hitler got Germany embargoed into economic ruin. Not sure how that counts as unfucking the economy.

I've heard he was really good at politics, which makes sense since he came out of nowhere and went on to lead nations, at least for a while.

Hitler got Germany embargoed into economic ruin. Not sure how that counts as unfucking the economy.

He's talking about before the war.  The German economy grew 70% in the 6 years preceding WWII.  That's almost a 10% annual growth rate.  It was as dramatic an economic transformation as China went through in the early 2000s.  And the benefits for Germany were broadly felt it wasn't just a case of rural Chinese people moving to the cities to face stagnant wages, German people in the 1930s had a massive improvement in their standard of living even as they saw their country transformed by massive investments and modernization.

There was a reason why people were fanatically devoted to Hitler.  His economic policies were massively successful.  You can argue that he wasn't responsible for his successes but plenty of other world leaders managed to screw the pooch and he didn't.

No, see, Hitler was a great guy besides the whole holocaust thing. Everyone is just too PC to admit it.

Should I rename the thread to "Bay 12 /r/worldnews Megathread"?

Hitler was a pretty crummy leader all things considered. He mostly achieved economic growth through manipulation of statistics (eg. getting women out of the workforce so they didn't count as "unemployed", imprisoning some of the unemployed, etc) alongside massive government spending on the military, which only paid off once the war started thanks to their ability to loot conquered territory. I think I went into detail on it somewhere else once.

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.
