... you missed an alliteration opportunity there, nenj. Though BDP is apparently the acronym for a whole host of political parties.

Oh so the secret to getting America back on track was inside our pants the whole time.

Better Democracy through Penis.
There's probably porn with that premise around, but don't ask me to look.

I'm guessing with a title like "Lady Liberty Meets the Pounding Fathers".

Don't even get me started on how John Hancock had the biggest signature around.

You should check into a second career writing porn titles Redking. That was amazing.

Puts a whole new spin on "Uncle Sam wants YOU!" as well.

Oh, one of our party games is "Porn Titles" where you try to come up with as many porn parody titles of existing films as possible. I have heard some titles that were so glorious that they made me want to make those movies. That, and a buddy of mine worked in sales/marketing for a very large and well-known adult retail franchise for a while. He was, unsurprisingly, terrifyingly good at that game.

To get this back on track, here's a good article laying out where the various GOP candidates come down on vaccination.

So far, the anti-vaxxer camp includes:

Chris Christie (maybe)
Rand Paul
Rick Perry (after his HPV reversal)
Carly Fiorina (maybe)

Everyone else is pretty unequivocal in their support for vaccination.

Oh, except for The Donald:

My impression of Christie's position is he was briefly trying to burnish his somewhat lackluster conservative credentials by giving lip service to the idea, but doesn't really believe it (or have it as a policy position). He didn't expect (or probably wasn't thinking about) the media backlash, so his office clarified "The Governor believes vaccines are an important public health protection and with a disease like measles there is no question kids should be vaccinated."

He just doesn't want to be seen as the east-coast psuedo-liberal (which is apparently a popular perception among the conservative base) coming to force vaccines on your kids to the minority that is concerned about it. Most of the people who would be concerned about vaccines on the right don't seem to be concerned with autism or toxins all that much, it's really the libertarian "It's my choice" aspect that has influence, so he is trying to show he likes that idea even as he agrees that vaccines should be taken.

I thought Fiorina's comment was the stupidest of them so far:

Quote
“I think vaccinating for measles makes a lot of sense. But that’s me. I do think parents have to make those choices. I mean, I got measles as a kid. We used to all get measles... I got chicken pox, I got measles, I got mumps,” Fiorina told BuzzFeed.

So....because you were chronically ill as a child, you think others should be too?  ???
Sounds like she's trivializing what can be some serious illnesses.

Rand Paul doesn't sound so much anti as in the 'lets be careful' camp.

If all the evidence points towards one conclusion spreading FUD isn't 'lets be careful', it's taking a side.  The wrong side.

Oh god. Honest John's considering a presidential run? He's bad enough as a governor (though I actually hope his most recent proposal, an additional 1.00/pack tax on cigarettes) is successful. My parents can barely afford their smoking habit as it is, and the price rise would force ma to quit._

What does/would your state do with the money from the tax?

Let's be careful is a good watchphrase when the government gets involved with medicine or research.  Atrocities relating to human experimentation are not rare and the results are incredibly alluring to the more amoral researchers.  It's surprising more people aren't paranoid about the government using vaccines to infect or poison them, given the history of the topic and resilience of the "just following orders" excuse.  It's plain that no one should mandate the use of little-studied medicine, I think.

The childhood cocktails of vaccines are pretty damn safe and well-studied at this point, though. Safer than having more mutating diseases in the mix.

Of course 95% of unethical medical research is done by governments.  95% of all medical research is done by governments.  They're just meeting their quotas.
