"..." Theo briefly pondered the old man's words, wondering if he should be short about it or not say anything at all.

"For me, it was bad luck. I left my weapons at wrong place at a wrong time while... busy. Couldn't even put up a fight. You on other hand at least had a chance at fight, from what I can see." He looked at the newcomers' still fresh-looking wounds.

Jasmine was initially going to stay silent, but when the other guy spoke up she went with the flow.

: "Dastards were raiding villages and taking folks away. We tried to stop them, but got overwhelmed. A few of us managed to get away...can't say I blame them for running."

[Solymr]

The old man continued to heal wounds while listening to the stories.

: Hmm, yes, the usual failed attempts at being heroes... This is why prefer doing business and cunning rather than charge headfirst for "honor". Hm?

He stopped in front of Lazarus.

: Lift your head up, boy. I need to see if you still have both your eyes.

[Xanmyral]

The merchant obliges the healer, lifting his head and staring at him. Both were accounted for, if glassy and dim.

"I'd offer a discount as gratitude for the healing, but I'm afraid my supplies are... Indisposed at the moment." The merchant said evenly, his tone flat.

"Not all risks pan out I suppose."

[Sirus]

: "Bite me old man, we were just trying to help some folks. And what's your excuse? Are you one of the bandits, or did you get captured despite your "cunning"?"

[Solymr]

: Me? I'm not a bandit. I just got hired so that the slaves don't die too soon. Good thing about slavers is that money isn't a problem for them.

The old man turned to Lazarus and started healing.

: ...Something feels different about you. You're more receptive to magic than the average human...

[Sirus]

: "So you work in the slave trade. Much better." The sarcasm was thick enough to cut with one of Zahir's axes. Jasmine crossed her arms and glared at the old man.

[Xanmyral]

"You're not the first to say. I'm afraid I can't claim to have any inclinations for the arts, my interests are more mercantile in nature." Laz brushed the topic off.

"No business is without issue, but if coin is what you seek there are fewer better fields if one can deal with the moral implications."

[Solymr]

The old man ignored the lady and kept observing Lazarus.

: I don't care about moral implications. I only work for my own purposes. Now let's see, this could be the result of a curse related to undead, and if it spreads I will be hunted like a dog. Have you been close and/or attacked by any undead?

[Tiruin]

Kyrah was curious.

"I thought undead are just myths? You can't make alive a construct of the dead. Right?"

[Xanmyral]

"Perhaps, my memory isn't what it used to be. I've certainly met those who have, this much I will sell you. But a curse? You wound me sir, just as we were getting to know one another." The merchant brushed off once more. "We all have our purposes. If coin is yours, to take the risks of being 'hunted like a dog' speaks of a great want... Or an urgent need. I wonder which, hmhmhm."

[Solymr]

: How can someone forget something like that? I guess if you want me to have doubts, I have no choice but to purge you with fire...

[Xanmyral]

"Well, suppose that was too hard of a sale. Still, one learns from everything." Lazarus sighed, more of a slower breath really. "To the best of my knowledge, no, I've not had any contact with the undead. Closest I've been is particularly decrepit priests."

[Solymr]

: Hmm, so this is a case of an unknown source disorder. My course of action is clear then, just let me ask them to start building a pyre, hehehe.

"Take one action against him and you will find out how quickly actions can have consequences. What goes around will come swiftly around and with much greater fury than you dealt out."
