Your personal texts reads "Remember me, friends?"

Who are we supposed to be remembering?
Me. My hope is that I'm an interesting and memorable person, and that other people will at least have some sort of subconscious recognition of me when I post. I certainly don't want to become the unofficial leader of the forums, recognized by all, but I do want to be more than just a small face in the crowd.

Anyway, who is Magic Missile?

This guy.

Sheb, that reads like you're trying to reduce what the person is saying to simply expressions of anger. Perhaps instead of talking about their tone, you could ask questions about their stances on various things?

(But seriously, person signed up two days after Magic Missile clocked out and he's very outspoken about feminism already.)

Do you mean (int) Magic Missle? That was an awful long time ago IIRC.

EDIT: nevermind, yes you do.

smeeprocket, I'm sorry, but if you're not willing to actually discuss and explain your points, what are you trying to accomplish in a discussion thread? You have a right to be angry, but this is not a place to vent your anger.
You know, if we're gonna stop discussing, at least we can do so by slipping into dadaism.

Bananapig.

Ninja: Well, she appears to be unwilling to elaborate, so asking further questions seems kinda pointless...

this isn't even the point of the topic, which is one of the reasons I didn't want to get dragged down into explaining the inner workings of feminism to people who probably aren't going to get it.

We have covered, in this topic alone, rape apology, the acceptability of violence against women versus men, the demographics of various games up to and including whether all women play candy crush saga or not, feminism and its definition, and several other things, only one of which is related to the topic.

Like I said, I would far prefer (and we were a few pages back) to talk about how women can best be represented in games. As well as other oppressed people.

It is more then just doing a poor job at explaining things Smeeprocket.

Other than listening to the general vitriol that the media and conservatives tend to spew in our direction?

How many other ways am I supposed to interpret this?

That is why VoxieG interpreted your statement as such.

I think that was pretty clear. That is a problem that feminism deals with. Women are supposed to be meek and quiet. Seen and not heard, or trying to express their silly little thoughts.

That is what the average person gets fed on feminism, vitriol and contempt.

Ok, let me just give you what immediately comes to mind when I read that directed at me.

"What makes you an expert, other then being just another ignorant sexist?"

Because where it is placed, (I really should have properly quoted for this forum), you don't get what you are saying. You get a direct accusation because there is no reason for it to be there.

We can test this of course.

Was this appropriate for me to say? I can rewrite the second part obviously... but would Conservative Feminists be any more innocent? Would it speak volumes of the trials and tribulations. Or am I accusing you of being sexist when I write that?

The more I have to slip into the defensive of "I'm not a man hater" the less we discuss the actual problems. My point is not that you are sexist, but that you are probably basing your opinions off of very hateful and anti-feminist sources.

Misandry is a myth and using that term does label you as a sexist, tbh.

Yeah. The worse part is, as far as I understand her position, I actually agree with her.

P.S. Talking about how to represent women in game? Well, first of all, this assume everyone agrees with you on the rest. For example, some might think that representation is not that much of an issue at all. But even if we do, is there really a lot to discuss about except saying "It'd be cool if writer created nice women characters"?

P.P.S. Neonivek doesn't want to accuse you, he just want you to adhere to the same rules other apply.

P.P.S. So it's fine if you insult other people, but not if they do so, because then it's distracting from what you want to talk about??

I felt pretty insulted personally, I am just firing back, as ineffective as that strategy might be.

And yes, some people do think it is not an issue. Caz flat out says women are treated as equals and have complete representation in video games. I think that is rather obtuse, however.

In what way is that not sexist?

"I am not saying your sexist, except that your opinions, what you think, and what you say is sexist"

Also believing that someone can believe in female superiority hardly makes me a sexist. Though if you care to elaborate how believing that someone can hold in their head that women are great and men is scum IS sexist... I am all ears.

You can't change the definition of Misandry and hold it as "The" definition.

that's not actually misandry definition wise, but this ridiculous assumption that women want superiority. Well, men have that right now, is it a fear of being treated as women are currently treated? Because then you can see where we are coming from.

Misandry is the oppression of men by women, reverse sexism, etc, which is impossible in a culture that has no power structure to support such sexism. Sexism against women is institutionalized. Yes you can act sexist to a man on an individual basis, but it will not adversely affect his life or have long term consequences for him.

Misandry: dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against men

That is "The" definition.

Everything you are referring to is not intrinsic to the definition.

Is this definition a myth?

Weird, on the moderation log it says he was banned in august.

He made a thread on proto-gamers-gate (aka the Zoe thing), it got locked after descending into a flame war (and a couple of forum members got banned). He did it another 2 or 3 times (each time being locked) before Toady banned him for not getting the hint.
