Respond "No problem dad i'll get a few herbs for you before going into town. Do you need anything specific right away? Or do you just want me to wing it?"
"Hmmm ... Get anything you think will be of use, but try your best to find some Feverfew, Brackenroot, and Hadzimith since I've used most of our supplies of it on the medicine for the Guard Station. Just remember to be careful, the wolves have been overactive this year."
You exchange a few more pleasantries with your father before making your way out of the house, grabbing a leather satchel on your way out to store the herbs and your deliveries in. As you step out the front door you take a look around taking in your surroundings, a low stone wall runs around the outside cutting your house and the surrounding gardens off from the grasslands, and fields beyond. A dozen other houses, and hovels are sprawled out in front of your house, the other residents of the little settlement that the people in your region call East Hamlet. Most of the other people are already out working in the grain fields surrounding the East Hamlet preparing for the next harvest though a few house wives, and children sit chatting over the drying laundry in the center of the village. You smile, and wave to them as you greet you, but quickly make your way out of the village following a dirt road heading to the west. Towards the Redwood.
It takes a good while for the grain fields to give way to open pastures, and for the outskirts of the forest to become visible over the tops of the golden grain and rolling hills. After that the surroundings turn to a seemingly endless amount of rolling hills, and sparse copses dotted around the landscape, it hardly looks like a region entering the first days of fall you think. By the time you arrive at the Redwood's edge the sun is high in the sky, and you feel a good film of sweat and dirt building up from your travels. Looking around at the endless sprawl of trees you pick out two familiar paths, one well tread and clear of vegetation skirting around the edge of the forest, and the other more a thin game trail overgrown and narrow.
Looking at the paths you're unsure which to take, the road is safer yet is unlikely to wield as many herbs as the less safe game trail is like to grant you ...

Edit:
Quick explanation of the plants listed:
Feverfew: Feverfew is an actual plant in real life that is used for helping relieve migraine headaches, fever, and arthritis. (Scientifically not proven, but who needs science in a fantasy setting :V)
Brackenroot: Brackenroot is a made up plant, it looks like a very small shriveled brown shrub with thorns. Its roots are useful in helping with fevers, and fighting off infections while the rest can make a mild pain inducing toxin when mixed with feverfew and boiled.
Hadzimith: Hadzimith is another made up plant. It looks like a tiny bright red flower with a pale yellowish stalk, the flower usually has flecks of black throughout it. The stalk can be ground into a paste with brackenroot and feverfew to fend off infection, numb pain, and help the wound heal faster. The flower however is a fairly strong hallucinogenic when prepared correctly.
