Yeah, I forgot. Something like, a stray horse male kicks the doe rabbit to death?

Or kicks the other stray horse to death.  Or kicks Urist Mcmilker to death for taking the female somewhere.  Or just had a bad day and gores McRandom.

Gelding prisoners may be a form of torture, but seeing what dwarves have done already with "child care" and forgotten beast poison experiments straight out of Unit 731, I doubt that they would care too much.

It is "you" who have done those horrible fun things, not dwarves.

I heard elsewhere that low-skill gelders can get killed in attempting gelding.

Unfortunately I'm told you can't caponize roosters in this game, so no, sadly, that is not the case. Sigh.
I meant just below the rib cage.

The dwarves seem perfectly happy to go along with it.

Let's hope we can geld prisoners in the future. I want my zoo of gelded elves.

Do-able through modding. Elf livestock already works. Even dwarf underclass livestock sort of works by making a caste have the PET token.

I'm actually interested in keeping male livestock now. I am actually actively looking at the specimens the caravan brings for the best choices. I got some awesome sheep to breed now. Fat and muscular and huge. Now if anyone brings along some skinny ram pet I can prevent it from breeding with my superior livestock.

What if in a future update, the reaction used in gelding produced an item?

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

Then they could be eaten, or turned into interesting roasts. It is common in Serbia, and some other places.

Prairie Oysters are a delicacy in some places. The American West comes to mind.
They're not bad in a garlic sauce. Odd texture though.

Here in Oz, the scrotum of a kangaroo is often tanned as a novelty souvenir for mindless tourists. Although often it's just plain old kangaroo leather from the rest of the animal, shaped into a scrotum shape and tanned that way. (And before you say "that's so mean!", the rest of the leather from the kangaroo is also tanned, the meat is excellent and used in fancy restaurants, and there are more kangaroos hopping around Oz today than there were 300 years ago, before the whites arrived and started messing with the environment. So we harvest the roos as a farm animal, same as sheep, cows, and bunny rabbits.)

I was once served a "hog fry" at a cookout. From the context of the thread you can probably guess which part of the pig it was. It was delicious and I had another.
