How is hiding on guard duty the most dangerous position? It is 100% safety.

Except you didn't bring up the option of him hiding when you nominated him for guard duty. You said it was because you didn't trust anyone else to do it, which would be irrelevant if you expected him to hide since he wouldn't have any results for you to trust or mistrust the next day other than being alive or not.

At first, I didn't really care whether he hid or not, I just wanted somebody who I trusted in guard position. I am still wary about the three Vanilla townies and you have things to do at night, so he was the logical choice. I didn't nominate myself because I was still thinking that I would incriminate TDS.

The argument extended until the last light of dawn was fading, when SPC Cody Whitt pulled out his rifle and shot SPC Mei Yaochuan through the head.  Ignoring shouts of surprise and alarm, he walked into the dead man's tent and dug out a codebook from beneath a pile of trinkets.  He tossed it out to his fellow soldiers and announced "It is done."

The unit was soon absorbed into the advancing forces, and fought valiantly alongside the rest of the soldiers.

Months later, it was discovered that the three spies in the camp were not, in fact, allied with each other at all.  Two were deep cover moles planted by Italy and Japan, while only one had been German after all!
