Figuring Aiesha would go for the captain and Jess for her horse, Beryn ran to Prata's side and knelt to both pat the wyvern's cheek reassuringly and check his bonds, to see how to untie them.

[Haspen]

Those were tightly wrapped vines. Tiny thorns were poking against the skin of the wyvern (and the horse and the Captain), the spots discolored with unhealthy purple.

If there were ends, they were out of sight; probably tied inside the bond's layers.
