"I see." Fer's nervous smile made her uneasy. "Am I intruding on anything? I can leave and find Elanore if I am."

: "Elanore's still inside the store, if you're looking for her."

Stheno read the aura. It seemed to scream that her presence wasn't appreciated. "Right... I guess I might go inside then. Though I had hoped to talk with more people who were new to the ship like myself and I'd be sailing alongside. It must have been very interesting, growing up in the House of Scholars, and I was curious about Mr. Jasso's background. I wouldn't want to be a bother though if neither of you are in the mood to discuss our histories."

[Powder Miner]

:"Huh? I'd be perfectly happy to talk about that, I... wasn't trying to seem unwelcoming."

[Sirus]

: "No, it's just...I'm sorry. I haven't been outside the House for many years and I'm still adjusting. I apologize for being rude."

[Glowcat]

That seemed to put her at ease. She remembered that there was bad blood between the nun and Elanore and worried that she may have stepped into something.

"Oh, well then. Would you like to go first, Mr. Jasso, or would it be rude for me not to begin since I asked? I know the least about you."

[Powder Miner]

:"Well, I come from Duo Alvada, from the Jasso family-- my family runs a magic library there and has for many generations!"

[Sirus]

Amberly perked up at that.

: "Sounds a little like the House of Scholars."

"That Jasso family? I thought it might just be a coincidence. That library is famous, even back on the West. You're practically scholarship royalty. I've wanted to get my hands on the first edition Voynich Treatise on Alvadan Flora for ages now and they're supposed to have the only surviving copy." Stheno would turn greener with envy right now if that were possible.

Fer glowed with pride.
:"Wow, really? That's... that's quite flattering! Truth be told, entire reason I came along in the first place is library business-- you see, we've been around even before the Shattering, but the shattering destroyed the old library and we lost a lot of tomes and books. I'm out looking to see if I might be able to find one of the crown jewels of the old library... a fire tome called "Armageddon.""

After her conversation with Jo, Lucrezia decided to go for a walk around town. She saw some of the others ahead... including the alchemist. Blushing slightly in remembrance of their conversation, she instead diverted into a nearby staff shop. She could at least look at the pretty designs on the staffs and their gems, until the group ahead had moved on. The notion of talking to the Stheno again was... daunting. Oh, gods, she'd think of that next time she saw Beryn as well.

She slipped inside the shop, blinking as she saw Cetus inside.

"O-oh! H-hello."

"Ah, hello. What brings you here? I was just trying to decide what the best staffs to buy were. After all, we want our group to be in the best shape possible. Obviously heal staffs are a must, but I'm seriously considering this other one... It increases your magic resistance, so I feel it could be helpful to our group. But then there's this one which causes an enemy to slow down, which could also help. What do you think?"

"Unfortunately I don't know enough about magical tomes to know if I've even seen that one." She thought about what Elanore said about mercenaries. "So you're only with the pir- privateers as a means to hold yourself over for funds before setting off again?" No that can't be right. The captain is supposed to be a cheapskate. "Or do you hope they'll encounter it on this upcoming journey that, frankly, I still don't know much about besides that we're apparently also a courier service. It doesn't sound like the sort of mission that would lead one to ancient tomes unless you were really lucky and found it on a collector."

[Sirus]

: "No one told you what this is about...? Well, basically the captain of these people found an artifact that seems to lead to the resting place of one of the Old Gods, and...we're going to try and wake him up. That's the short version, anyway."
