However, it took humanity many millennia to recover from their undead state and rediscover technology. In that time, the oceans began settling, lowering and exposing more land, though there were still no vast dry spaces.

And then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

Granted, fire probably wasn't the best choice for combat in mostly blood-drowned land, but what it did do was simulate a fever. A fever so great that white blood cells erupted from beneath the crimson tide en masse, their mobility and phagocytosis enhanced by the heat.

(We've created many eras so far, let's return to some later and flesh them out. But for now, HISTORY!)

It was known variously as the White War, the 20-Year Fever, and the Tides of Hell. But regardless of the name, it devastated humanity once more, and still the Giants wept.

The Fire Nation suggested that the Giants should suck it up and stop whining so much.

Then it finally happen the Blood King returned.

What welcomed the King was a war-torn landscape; though humanity had been pushed back, its creations fought still, obeying masters long deceased and struggling over burnt and drowned land. Bloated masses of metal, driven by the frenzied white-hot leukocytes within them clashed against amorphous torrents of the motivation-eating tearspawn amidst charred ivory sands that were once human bones.

The Blood King was promptly set on fire.

The final end to the rampage came when the aggressors, in a fit of machismo, attempted to contact the dead giants to chastise them. Their efforts woke the giants, who's rise shook the seas

The giants, having reached their utmost despair, have up hope for the world. They stood upon each others shoulders until they reached the moon, and pulled themselves up away from the Earth.

The giants, on waking, began to take back their blood, and so drained the oceans until they were naught but salty water, and once more there were great dry places. They fell once again and when they rose they had no memory, and returned to their ancient hiding place. The humans rebuilt the world and lived in peace, until, after 30,000 years, the dragon returned and began it all again.

Yet the blood of the giants had become filled with superheated, hyperactive white bloodcells that remained in such a state. When they bleed once more, the great rivers of blood will be not streams of life, but burning floes of white death.

And the Fire Nation saw it was good.

And so they believed as they perished with everyone else, shouting of the immense honor as they were incinerated.

With no-one left to oppose them on the fiery remnants of the planet, the Fire Nation spread across the world.
