Kill everyone (and eat them), except for daisy, then farm big monsters for the 2 minutes it takes people to respawn, kill em again.

Nothing is as sad as doing that for the 3rd time, when everyone is on there last life, there health bars are only big enough to "take" one skill and the defeat is on there faces before it happens.

But hey, good farming for archivments and unlocks.

from what i saw on streams, that 2nd medic Lazarus (?) might be pretty good against a ranged kraken. as the lightning nuke damage seem to kill hunters pretty quickly with 2-3 hits. and if the kraken is far at range laz could just heal the dead up again and again without health penalty.
laz seems to be more difficult against Goliath, who is more close combat so getting near the dead without him attacking is more difficult. against Goliath val seems better with tranqs and ranged heal.
but i think you cant see what monster you are against before you pick your class... so that might be a irrelevant point.

I think my favorite hunter class is trapper.  You're the one who makes the shit happen.  Even with a shitty team you can carry as trapper.

I also unlocked the second trapper dude.  Not sure about him yet.  On one hand his harpoon does damage.  On the other it's attached to him so it's not as easy to use.  regular trapper you can kind of just drop the hooks everywhere off cooldown and they'll probably cause some kind of problem for him.  The harpoon gun though you actually have to position yourself in a way that hinders him.  Like if you're standing with the medic and he's charging you the harpoon won't do anything.

But the sound spikes are great.  Again not as fire and forget as Daisy but the hooks have a big enough radius that you can cover a big chunk of the map.  Spread them all around to get decent coverage everywhere or overlap them to completely cordon off half the map.

Feels like Griffin has potentially more power than Maggie but it's more nuanced to use.  Maggie's not as strong in some respects (stronger in a few others) but she has more fire and forget power with Daisy and hte harpoon traps.  Also she can get tracking right off the bat while Griffin takes some time to get a network of spikes together.

The only problem is I think a lot of players don't know how to find hte monster without Daisy.  It seems like whenever I play Griffin everybody just wanders around hte map.

Edit:  Just got Kraken.  Maybe it's just the rarity and people not knowing how to deal with it but it seems crazy good right now.  I don't think I've had a monster round go that easy before.  Lightning does huge damage and is pretty hard to dodge, and all his abilities seem to be designed to lock down a KO'd medic and make him impossible to rez.

Level 20 now, unlocked the "Elite" skin, but it's not in the game yet.

2end Char for most classes is just way better. Sure, they have a "higher skill-cap", but seeing how simple the game is, there is hardly a downside to that.

The 2end hunter is great, the motion sensors stay even after you die and allow even a deaf-mute to get his team to the monster. A good medic and a good support are horrible to fight against - team spreads out, medic and support cover whoever you target and if someone is actually not being beat up, they help with damage. A good hunter keeps you busy enough that you can't focus much on any others.

Here is what it would take for me to actually buy the game;

Costum Lobbys, with options, ranging from;

0-4 Monsters
0-20 Hunters

Deathmatch/Hunt/Coop Hunt/ Versus Hunt (monsters have to kill each other and hunters, as in "3 teams" situation).

I want there to be 6 Hunters when i'm the monster, for a real fight, it would be glorious.

I'm kind of hoping for something less video game boss battle-ish and more hunting/being hunted.  Right now it really just feels like a more complex version of fighting the Tank in Left 4 Dead.  He runs toward you, you run away, he throws rocks and you try to dodge, he knocks you down and moves on to another guy, and so on until you've put so many bullets into him he dies or he wipes your team.

The stealth attack is buggy and doesn't always go off and when it does go off it takes so long to kill him that unless he's literally across the map from his teammates they'll get to you before he dies.  I don't think I've ever killed anyone with it but for the amount of work you put into it it had better kill him outright and not give him a death timer.

I'd like something more akin to Predator or Hidden Source where the monster can kill you almost instantly if he catches you off guard but likewise goes down fast when cornered.  AVP3 had a Predator mode which was cool but since it was easy to see the predator it was really just a race to see who can shoot him first.

I've watched ~6 matches of this, it seems more like a 30$ game than 60. I don't think I'll be buying this any time soon.

Also, does anyone roleplay the monster?
Seems like that'd be more fun for everyone, extend the gameplay a bit.
So, things like
-Try to engage them when you first see them, (you just slaughtered the facility after all), & flee when they start doing loads of damage
-Don't start doubling back & trying to lose them until it's obvious they're tracking you
-Try to get into vantage points to watch them- act the part of a clever beast
-Ignore metas until they've been used once, things like booby-trapped cliff-tops, or focusing on the healer or trapper right off the bat

Also, perhaps they should require more eating for each level-up? Seems like it's lvl2 in no time flat, and then the monster's got a 50/50 chance against a casual/pub team.

If that's roleplay then roleplay is really just suicide.  Trying to engage the hunters right when they start will get you wounded to the point you probably won't be able to fight them later if they drop the dome right off the bat.  If they're smart and wait until you run away to drop the dome then you'll die for sure.

You only start with a bar or two of shield to make immediate engages riskier.  Otherwise a smart monster could easily grab a few KO-strikes and most of his evolve bar and put the enemy on the defensive without losing any HP.

Most of the things you're wanting to do, while probably neat, would get you killed.

Also I've heard somewhere that the game's lore has the monsters as bio-engineered weapons designed to clear off planets, which explains why they have elemental powers but wouldn't really make animal behavior make sense.  It's intelligent.

Heh, yeah most of it puts you at a (significant) disadvantage, which is why it should probably only be attempted by experienced players.
In the case of first-sight aggro, you could semi-cheese it & simply wander off to feed, (rather than sitting around while they drop), & engage them the first time they find you after that.
Perhaps the starting form could have better defenses & much weaker offenses?

Intelligent, sure, but knowledgeable?
Human players have justification for meta-gaming- they're playing animal control officers, presumably they've dealt with this kind of thing before & know how to handle it.

The beast on the other hand hasn't, (as far as we can tell), encountered a purpose-built hunting squad before. Why should it know their modus operandi? Why should it fear them?

Frankly winning isn't everything- challenging yourself & providing a fun experience for everyone sounds like the kind of satisfaction I'd aim for.
That moment when a lone hunter spots you watching his posse pass by, just silently observing them, or when you escape the first (dire) fight & straight up disappear from the radar, and the other players notice it.
That's the kinda thing I'd live for in the game.

It's even worse because they just came right out and said the game was made for DLC and they want to release a lot of it, which means you're probably looking at $100 (or more) to actually get the whole game.

I almost can't believe they are trying to charge that much for a multiplayer only game built around a gimmick that may or may not still be fun in a month.

I don't think devs/publishers realize that DLC makes some people even less likely to buy a relatively new release.

I don't think that group is substantial enough to matter.  DLC and microtransactions have become an industry standard because they're extremely profitable.

DLC is extremely profitable because it can't be resold. Gamestop's parasitism is directly responsible for DLC, particularly for "day 1" on-disk DLC.

I guess that's a rant for a different thread though.

Been lurking for a while but evolve currently has all my hype. Just a friendly reminder/necro that the closed beta is coming tomorrow. Anyone on xbox one can play it along with anyone who owns Left 4 Dead (the first one) or Bioshock: Infinite. I'm not sure about PS4 users so if anyone could shed light on that it'd be neat.

I managed to get myself a copy of the Press Preview (Gamestop managers got a copy, my boss can't play decent PC games. Ergo, it fell to me.) It's neat, although there's a lot going on.
