The daleks, as the dwarves have taken to calling them, shot several dwarves, pkop among them, off the bridge
between the east and west sides of the prison today. some survived the fall and screamed for some time in the water, but ultimately drowned

We have walled ourselves off in the western portion for fear of the daleks getting inside and causing further death.
I ordered some slabs built to memorialize the many dead we could not recover, when  was informed we had no stone left
why not mine some more then, I asked, and was told that the pickaxes are stored in the secure weapon storeroom in
the guardhouse above ground.  It seems we will have to wait out the invaders.  The forest fire continues above ground

The smell of smoke eventually subsided, taking that as a sign, we resumed the surface.  A barren scorched forest confornted
us, thick with the smell of burnt flesh, but no daleks in sight.  only 13 prisoners and 26 guards remained, and yet another group of prisoners
arrived the day after.
  It will take some time to collect and inter all the burnt bodies.  as for the drowned ones all we can do is memorialize them in stone.
I will begin this effort, but after such a tragedy, I cannot continue my term as warden  I will resign on the first of
granite year 1053.
I wish my succesor luck, he will need it.

save coming soon, some notes:
there are about 20 dwarves in the river I can't get to, and I realised only in the last couple of days of my turn (as I Watched my dwarf fall to his death) that the waterfall is NOT actually a waterfall, but a cunningly designed dwarf murdering machine, that lures dwarves to walk across the riverbed, then they get swept over the edge to their death (that's why there are so many corpses there) I have restricted traffic in the river tiles, and built a small wooden bridge which I hope the dwarves will use preferentially but I don't know if further action is needed.

Sorry that the fort is such a mess, but I wasn't exactly prepared for daleks as the first siege.  And they also seem pretty well impervious to copper/ dwarf fists
edit: having some trouble uploading, it will have to wait until tomorrow or the day after I'm afraid
