The manager of this place, Pkop, mandated the construction of some large gems today.
I'm not sure if he's aware that gems are not a thing one constructs, and they are found underground.
In any case I won't be the one to tell him, I don't wish to incur a hammering.
The wall around the complex is finally complete! as such prisoners are now allowed access to the surface once again,
provided they do not leave the boundaries of the walls.
The dogs keep getting lost in despair, or so the guards tell me. I have no idea what that means for a dog.
We are facing a desperate shortage of weapons. If we were to field our guards all at once only one five would likely
wield a weapon of any kind. The absence of any metal ores in this area forces me to pin our hopes on the next caravan that
arrives.
Some of the strangest creatures I have ever seen arrived at the prison today.
They tentaively moved across the forest floor towards our walls and then suddenly hovered in the air!
however once the blood rain started they appeared quite horrified, but still proceeded.
One hovered above the wall and emitted some kind of beam, and the ground was engulfed by flames and smoke!
The creature landed and was quickly swarmed by the waiting guards, but our poor weapons made no impression on it's rock like
flesh. As the fire spread we retreated underground and locked the doors
those dwarves unfortunate enough to still be above ground when the doors were locked took refuge in the guards quarters.
While the strange noises continued aboveground, a giant cave spider came up from the depths to make matters worse
and killed a couple of guards before being put down.
The fire continues above, I do not know when these creatures will leave.
