Got a save.  Going to need to do some testing to see if the Necromorphs actually show up, though.

So, where else do they deploy a unit of a civilization that is nearing its final throes in order to establish a prison?  Right in the middle of [diety] damned nowhere.  With terrain that seems like it would carry a haunted refrain in the north, and stuff that terrifies me to the south.

I get the feeling that I was only sent out here because I trained my squad in the non-traditional combat of stabbing a pick into things because the bastards were too dim or valued their time too much in order to be practically trained.

Here's their psych profiles so the next sod can know what sorts of people founded this place:[/i]

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You know, I never know if I should worry the most about Doren, Mestthos, Besmar, or Athel.  First carries ideas of restraining independence, second has a god complex, third wants anarchy, and the fourth is diving into hell and saying 'be merry!'  I didn't even friggin' hide where we're going, the monarch told us all at once.  I was seriously thinking of telling [king/queen] to go screw [him/her]self off, when she said, 'that sounds awesome.'  Either there's an underlying motive, or she's just that dense that nothing can affect her.  One thing I must admit is that she does have a high level of optimism, giving us the group name, 'the Death of Hell'.  Who knows, maybe she sees something that the rest of us don't.

Either way, welcome to hell.

Looks like I'm going to have to edit that post.  Game crashed when I tried to unpause.

(Decided to attempt to run the save in the newest version.  Isn't crashing.  Let's see what happens.)

Granite 15, 1050

Ordered the creation of the route into the mountain to serve as the main entrance.  Four of us are on guard.  Rest are mining.

Granite 18, 1050

Mined down to rock.  Constructing retracting bridge across the canyon.

Granite 20, 1050

Bridge is under construction still.  Started raining human blood, so that's a thing.  Seems to be staying in the southeastern corner.  Location may just be out of range.

Granite 21, 1050

I was wrong.  Raining blood here as well.  Ordered everyone into the tunnels.  Going to need to check for anything that the rain may cause.

Granite 26, 1050

Bridge built across the 'canyon'.  Stockpile area mined out.  Offloading wagon.  Praying goods aren't contaminated.

Slate 1, 1050

Took a look at the waterfall.  Entire top of it was red with blood.  Half wish it was elf blood rather than human.  I say half, because the bloody idiots under my command probably would be frolicking in the stuff if it was the blood of elves.

Slate 11, 1050

Started framework for the mines.  Ran into Microline quite rapidly.

Slate 20, 1050

Ran into damp stone.  Got enough mining done to have enough stone for the construction of the gear assembly for the retracting bridge.

Felsite 5, 1050

Upon this date, an apparent malfunction was caused in the gears of the retracting bridge.  Sadly, at that time the current overseer, Zanzetkuken, was upon the bridge.  With the bridge gone from under him, he drowned in the waters below.  His journal was on him, and after it was salvaged from the waters, much was damaged by the human blood rain and the water.  The above is what has been managed to be taken from the remains.  The leadership of the fortress is to be passed on to Pisskop.

Turn 1

(General custom I follow.  Named character dies, abandon/retire fort.  In this case, however, it's end the turn and pass it on.)
