having a problem where all the grahpics are mixed up for some reason. mostly seems like plant symbols are all wierd things (like mu instead of a little . or whatever for seeds, and solid blocks of colour instead of tildes for planted crops)
hugo did you use some kind of mod, and does anyone else know how to fix this? (im using complete vanilla DF 40.13)

Lo and behold, a hero is born!
Spoiler: Inu Ironspot (click to show/hide)
His quest, to kill the cowardly Fima manystabbed the eater of brains.
Spoiler: X marks the spot (click to show/hide)
X is where fima is, the circle is where Inu starts.
Spoiler: A closer look (click to show/hide)
fima is somewhere offscreen to the east.  I immediately journey to the town to the north, which seems to have been hit by a sharp economic downturn, my own hamlet seems more prosperous.
The streets are full of stray cats and dogs and as far as i can tell there are only 5 people in town, the local law giver, the "commander" whatever he commands, and 3 priests in the local temple.  Speaking to one of the aforementioned priests, known as "The sacred gutter" I find what seems like a worthy quest
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
ah, weak defenseless kobolds.  perfect. Before setting off however I decide to loot the local keep for some equipment
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
semi armoured and well armed, I decide to take a flute in the hope that i can hurt my enemies with my very low musicality.
a VERY uneventful journey through the wilderness later (bar a few carp getting their heads crushed) I arrive at the kobold camp
Spoiler: wait what? (click to show/hide)
yes those are kobolds.  this graphic thing is getting problematic.  In any case the kobolds put up an even more pathetic fight than i thought.  I don't miss a single attack and most of them are dead in one hit (those that aren't give in to pain immediately)  One swordskobold sheaths his weapon and escapes rather than fight me.  Finding that the "loot" they possesed was little more than human sized (???) trousers and mittens, I decide to return to the town at once.  On the way I find a worm.  I attempt to eat it
so I guess he's my best friend now.
but what's this?  Night is falling!  and the so called "camp" didn't actually have any tents for me to take refuge in, and the town is far away.  what will become of Inu Ironspot?

So I actually managed to journey all the way back to touchlashed without ANY bogeymen appearing.
they are turned on for this world right?!
upon my return, as you might expect, no one cared that I beat up some helpless dog-people.  They only had problems with OTHER kobolds which were too far away for me to bother
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and titans literally on other continents, which I didn't bother to get a picture of. So I set off for the dwarves of the oaken towers, as I was obviously no longer needed in touchlashed. Also I got a couple of buddies, just in case I got stuck out at night again.
again, I find a curiously depopulated hillock.  even the tavern was fairly empty
Spoiler: behold; lashtorn (click to show/hide)
These dwarves luckily had REAL problems, and directed me to a cyclops to the north.
In my naivety i thought this would be a proper fight
I had heard rumors of cowardly semimegabeasts in 40.x but didn't fully believe them until now :\
Deciding that the only fair fight I was likely to find was against the standing king, I decided to ignore all distractions and now head straight for smoothringed where Fima resides.

enough, as it turns out  :D
after an INCREDIBLY uneventful jounrey (basically i killed one camel in 4 days for food) we have reached our destination. which means it's time for my companions to say goodbye.
so I pushed them into a river. goodbye friends!
after some brief searching in the town (and killing a goose i didn't like) I found an elf wrestler
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
no time to waste! Trying not to get an unfair advantage with the first strike I punch fima in the teeth.  she promptly PUTS HER WEAPONS AWAY
a little while later she does get out her pick, but still resorts to some unusual attacks
the battle rages for a fair amount of time with neither of us taking a hit, me protected by my armour, her by her skill, until one of us lands the first blow

Spoiler: actual spoiler (click to show/hide)

VICTORY! Though it sounds like it could have gone either way. Say, was she wearing her steel armor? I went to a lot of trouble to steal a set of it.

from the looks of things It's Timeless Bob's turn, i would "guess" the OP has PM'd him but from the fact bob has not replied, i'm not so sure.
Because i'm watching for amusement purposes, i shall PM also, and ask for a response from Bob.

Enjoyed the writeup of neblime, good work!

ah sod it, i'll have a turn near the end. Add me to the list, pm'ing timeless bob to ask him to post to say he's begun.

Worth noting that he currently should be running a different succession fort as his is top of the list there also.

Dear Urist McStockpileDrone
I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.

Derp!  Downloading now... (I'm assuming that the game is still in 40.13.)

Wait a minute, what version does this use?

I'm just gonna assume 40.13 and wing it.

nvm, saw 40.13 in the download page.

Anyways, what's the point of using that B1 thing?? It's not like you actually have to buy WinRAR or anything...
