: Right. Harold nodded and continued down the hallway.

The stairs going down led to a closed off study/lab, where a few golem parts were strewn around. A lone desk at the far end held many papers. Harold walked over and started reading.

: This is it! That guy details every step of his in these journals, including a few very forbidden ones. With all of these Phineas will have him dead to rights, and we'll have our reward. Wait a minute, there's something else...

Among the papers there was one that stood out. It was significantly older than the others, but it still was in good condition.

: What does this one say? This looks like a date, but I can't read it... Harold read a bit forward and immediately paused and stared at the paper.

[Sirus]

Harlan began placing documents in his bag of holding. No chance of losing them that way.

: "Well? Don't keep me in suspense, Harold."

[Solymr]

Harold turned to Harlan and again at the paper, and started reading.

: "Today the construction of the Waygate finishes. After all this time we'll finally be able to move on..." Harold's voice petered out as he finished the first sentence in the ancient paper.

[Sirus]

: "'Move on...'? What?" Harlan was getting a little irritated; his chest was starting to hurt pretty badly and he wanted to get out before they got caught.

[Solymr]

: I have no idea... Let's just go, we'll have time to read it later. Harold took the paper with him as the brothers started making their way out.

[Sirus]

Harlan rolled his eyes at his brother's dramatics, but began to lead the way out.

: "So...how much do you think all of that paper will be worth?"

[Solymr]

Harold smiled again when he thought of the payout.

: Heh... About twice the amount that you found in that chest. We are set.

[Sirus]

Despite the pain, Harlan grinned.

: "Nice." The thief took a moment to offer Harold a high five.

[Solymr]

Harold returned the high five.

: Hey, is Catherine in town? You could take her out, give the good news, and I could buy Senija a little something...

[Sirus]

: "Nah, she got called away on some Gate business. She'll be back in a few days though, and I'll treat her to the best dinner this town has to offer."

[Solymr]

The two brothers vanished into the night, and by the morning their need for money completely ended. After this, Harlan went on to live with Catherine until his final days and Harold moved with Senija. The mysterious page's destination is unknown though, maybe it will play a more important role in the future...

~~~~Epilogue C: Legend of the Spirit Sword~~~~

Not long after the Waygate affair, Albert and Ketsuki were on their way to return to her master's home, in the mountains nearby. But on the road, they encountered some difficulties.

Albert and Ketsuki traversed the road that cut through the forests towards the secluded home. There was still a way to go, but the forest seemed quiet...

[Ochita]

Albert traveled through the forest, stealing glances here and there. He eventually broke the silence, turning to look at Ketsuki as he walked.
"..Hey, Ketsuki. Do you remember this forest being this quiet? I'm starting to wonder if the waygate opening spooked all the animals away..." After thinking for a moment more, he gave a little smile.
  "If that's the case, maybe we dont have to drive any animals out of yo- our home." Albert's smile grew a little bit bashful at his correction.

[GiglameshDespair]

It had been a long time since she'd walked this road, but she remembered every twist and turn with clarity. As Albert spoke, she shook her head.

"No, it was rarely this quiet. Birdsong and animal calls filled the air. But now..." The silence crept in as she paused. "As you say, perhaps the monsters of the Waygate scared away many of the creatures here."
She smiled.
"As long as it is still there, I do not mind if we have to drive out a few beasts. I do wonder what condition this whole waygate business has left it in."

[Ochita]

  "Ah, I see. Well, hopefully it'll be in good repair, and if it isn't, we can always fix it back up." Albert paused, the silence creeping back in. "You think some of the waygate's monsters have remained in this world? It hasn't been that long since it all happened, after all."

[Solymr]

The pair walked up the path until they reached a crossroads where some houses were built. But what they found was that the houses had been destroyed, and a bandit gang cut their path!

: Alright boys! We got some more unfortunate prey!
