Bay12 M.U.G.E.N. Project
« on: October 01, 2014, 02:27:59 pm »

I highly recommend downloading the game (it's a very small file!) and poking around in the files to get an understanding for the workings here. Downloading additional characters and looking in their files can also help.

As you may already be aware, M.U.G.E.N. is a freeware fighting game engine that allows users to create their own characters using their own code, sprites, and sounds. And despite the thousands of characters available from the userbase, it is unfortunately rather underpopulated with fighters from this glorious forum.

Let's fix that. We just need to put a little effort in. To make this happen, we'll need

People who can do sprites
-Fniff
-GUNINANRUNIN
-HugoLuman

People who can do code
-Pufferfish(maybe?)

People who can do sounds (design and/or voice-acting)
-KingOfStarrySkies (voice)
-IcyTea31 (voice)
-Kevak (voice)

And of course,
Characters:
-Cacame
-Ironblood
-Tholtig
-Morul
-Asax
-Vanod
-Stukos (from Rockfalls)
-Kurtulmak
-Liberal Activist (LCS)
-WWI Medic
-Various forumites
-Bogeyman mob fighter

BOSS TIER:
-Armok
-Toady One
-Xantalos

Fine let me contribute to the list of characters we should have.

I saw that we should have at least 8 fighters... sure that is a low amount but we can add more... later. Set our sights low for now... >_>

Every major race should have at least one character so: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Kobolds, Goblins.

I think the wizard from the Threetoe stories should represent humans mind you. Cacame? I forget...

After that... we just have 3 more slots to fill... Which are easy enough.

The Hall of Legends badasses should all get in. So that's Cacame, Ironblood, Morul (possible overpowered boss character), Tholtig, etc. I think they have at least one fighter from every race there, except perhaps goblins.

I'd be willing to do sprites, but they'd come out looking like something from Samurai Jack. We should probably decide on an art style.

Technically Goblins still have a three toe story where the goblin knew fireball magic...

Cacame as the elf king of dwarves, so he could sort of represent both. Morul, Tholtig Cryptbrain and Captain Ironblood for dwarves. There's also an elf queen in one of threetoe's stories that uses a wooden sword that has the same qualities of steel because MAGICK.

For goblins, I'm pretty sure there are a few famous ones in the community. Also demons. Humans have both the wizard and brom the warrior from threetoe's stories.

The only "Generic" character I'd personally would like in the game... would be The Boogeymen.

I can sprite things, if need be. I'm pretty good at characters as well, but a bit iffy on animation. Especially walking.

Could be good practice, though. I'll add you to the OP. Do you have interest in any character in particular?

How would you represent Toady?  Would he be like Chuck Norris and have no hitbox?  Every move a OHKO?
Boss Character ideas:
Armok
Toady One
Xantalos
Bronze Colossus

Sound design shouldn't be too hard, unless we want voiced taunts, etc.

Even that can be done with a bit of audio magic.
