(( was more or less waiting for most players to say something ))

While walking in Wood street, Peren and Lidia hear a noises coming from side streets, a few dozen feet ahead. It sounds like metal clicking. Lidia recognize this noise easily : her crossbow makes the same when reloading.

Lidia doesn't react, or at least tries not to. Instead she tries to see who is reloading a crossbow in the side street. And if there is anybody suspicious lurking about in the shadows.

(( perception roll 12+4, with darkvision ))
Despite her good view of the street, Lidia doesn't see anyone in wood street. The noise she heard, though, echoes in a street to the left, 20 feet ahead.

Perrin drifts closer to the peasants, one hand tightly gripping the quarterstaff, while the other swings lightly at his side. He also tries to surreptitiously find ambushers.

Lidia spends several moments musing over whether they're about to get ambushed or not. It could only be a complete concidence that someone was reloading their crossbow as they were walking down the street. But on the other hand they were rather bulky and hard to hide, and thus not the kind of weapon you'd use for a simple mugging. So she slows down slightly, naturally and smoothly letting her tougher companions get ahead of her as she checks her weapons underneath her jacket. It was always good to be prepared after all. She whispers, just barely loud enough for the rest of the party to hear her, "Act naturally but stay on your guard. Something is afoot, and hopefully we will never find out what."

As you continue to walk in the Wood street, you can hear a door closing and a lamp blown out when you pass the side streets. You don't see anybody there.

(( tell me if you want to investigate or continue and (try to) reach the carpenter's house ))

Lidia ain't about to poke her head into something that doesn't concern her, and keeps pressing onwards. She keeps her hand near her weapons though. She isn't stupid after all.

Harold tries to stay alert. If anyone attacks him, he'll hit them with Hellish Rebuke.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Perrin, while trying to obscure his movements, uses Minor Illusion to make it seem like a patrol is approaching.

(( My Name is Immaterial => I assume you mean the sound of a patrol, as Minor Illusion's images are quite restricted in term of volume (except if you want a partol of pixies :D ) ))

After 2 minutes and no other sounds, you reach a very little square, with 4 storefronts. Of those, two seem abandoned, one isn't a shop anymore, and the last one is the carpenter's workshop.
The couple of peasant timidly enters, and an old man, after a little pause smiles and hug them.
After a brief introduction, the old man welcomes you and offer you drinks.

Perrin thanks the man, and takes the drink, sipping only lightly.
"On the way here, I noticed that half the city's lights were out. Why is that?"
