Harold hangs around the entrance for the time being.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

"Such an unassuming entrance for a city rumored to be so large."

Mary replies :
"I think that Gasrath is just after this tunnel. My mom used to tell me stories about this city, about how it was discovered a hundred years ago."

And after a few hundred yards, the tunnel leads you to Gasrath indeed. You are on the side of a giant cavern, with a whole city inside.
There are so many lights in the city that you can distinguish the main roads.
You' are still on a little path, at the south-east of the city but also high thatn the city, and can see that the "ceiling" of the cavern is a hundred meters (/yards) above its floor, with a hole in its center, letting some natural light coming through.
The light goes directly to the central place, and you can realize that nearly half of the houses are not lit.

(( yeap I'm bad at editing pictures, and yeap the picture originally comes from the movie the City of Ember ))

Lidia carefully tucks her book back into her jacket, and her hat follows it soon after. "Why? Gasrath is supposed to be a friendly city, after all. Unless you suspect that something has happened to it?"

Lidia nods, "Then why are we hesitating? I would like to sleep in a good bed tonight."

Perrin shrugs. "I just thought that the pattern of lights on and off was strange. Also, where are the guards?"

The group quickly enter Gasrath from the eastern side, passing a couple of guards wearing an unknown purple uniform, to whom Marry asks where her uncle's carpenter shop is.
"Aleksei's workshop ? It's on the Wood street, on your right after the 4th block. Over there, after Linda's inn."

As they spot the guards, Lidia turns to Perrin and raises an eyebrow. She doesn't look smug, just curious about what he has to say to that.

Perrin asks the guard a question: "Excuse me. Do you know why there are no guards posted up at the tunnel entrance?"

"Well, there are too many tunnel entrances, so guarding only the city's is easier. There aren't any attacks here anyway, so we're safe."

"Right. Thank you for your time."
Perrin looks back at Lidia and shrugs.

She shrugs back, "Shall we go find an inn then? The guard mentioned one earlier, didn't he? Linda's inn, or something similar."
