If they don't exist, we get some scouts to give us some. If we already have some, the rope is anchored to something solid. Everyone in Castle except for Sam go down.

You all have flashlights in your inventories (just throwing that out there)
You open the hatch and see three brutes amongst about 10 zed in a deep pit with no ladder or rope or anything

And so off into the woods you go
You get about a quarter of a mile out and find a nice honey hole of bush berries, fruit bearing trees, and small game
Not to mention the plentiful straight sticks and flint

Kyle grabs a stick and starts sharpening it. It would take to long to find the right piece of flint and then find something to attach it. Afterwards he starts harvesting fruit and berries.

You finish sharpening the stick when you hear leaves rustling in the distance the same direction you came from
