"Who are you people? You're obviously not circus performers like you told me and my father." Ganron is obviously rather nervous to ask the question.

Dereth sighs quietly and takes up a more relaxed, upright posture, though being a man who'd dedicated his life to swordsmanship, it was still recognizable as a stance. Just an easier one to maintain.

"We are what we are. Perhaps we are also some of what we have once been, and with luck we are what we hope to be in the future. I was once the greatest swordsman alive or dead. Your...friend, is a sorceror, as you likely know by now. Bill is undead, though as you've clearly seen, no more harm to anyone than I am...and certainly no less. In the end, Ganron, does it matter? We are a group of exceptional individuals traveling through these lands after having lost everything we held near and dear, and everything we'd ever worked for. We may as well be a circus show, for how strange this group is. I did not know what she saw in you at first, but...you have potential. And she has chosen to take you under her wing, and I to take you under my tutelage. You may eventually become a true member of our gang, as much as any of us are. We did lose a valued companion, after all. We say we are circus performers because it is the path of least resistance to explain our strange bearings, and delays any further questions; most of us value our privacy. Which you have no intruded upon, however unwittingly. Now. Did you want to learn the art of the sword, or no?"

The question is not asked pointedly; it is asked quietly, and seriously; it was a trick question. Dereth did not teach the art of the sword. He taught one how to kill. How to win.

Zoe actually managed to summon a vestige. Surprisingly she apparently made a good deal. She claimed to be tired soon afterwards and left to parts unknown. Strange. Still, you eventually met up with her again at The Sovereign Dwarf. Better to be with the group after all. Especially if the group planned to leave soon.

Ganron managed to train with you for another hour before even his endurance started to flag. His movements were terrible... For you at any rate. He seemed to be progressing far quicker than most would. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to take him on after all. Still, he eventually left to find Galia. Which wasn't really of any interest to you at this point. Still, a long day of such tedious work called for a little rest. Amusingly, you noticed the boy you had dueled the other day. He actually seemed to be afraid of you and yet... He also seemed to want to say something. Still, the pretty young girl who was attempting to get his attention chose this point to drag him outside.

The guild must be getting sloppy. Either that or they were too skilled to train their members to panick openly. Nothing further happened that day.

Ganron and Zoe earn 50xp

The Sovereing Jester [[Bill, Rikimaru, Harmony, Galia, Dareth, Illandrinal, Zoe, Ganron, and Statia]]

Awakening in the morning [or simply joining the others in the common area] the next morning the group notices an unassuming girl with a holy symbol of Boccob smiling happily as Galia comes into the room. The Inn appears even busier than normal, though likely only due to the sheer amount of the group's size.

"Hey mo! I got permission! I'm a pilgrim now!" The Girl says to Galia, ignoring everyone else.

[Tawa]

"Ah, great! Everybody, this is a new friend of mine, Statia. She agreed to come along with us and see the world a bit."

Bill rolls his eyes, and tries to gather the group into a corner.
"Ladies. Gentlemen. We have a problem. When Jake fell into the mass of Negative Energy, he provided the skeleton for a consciousness to be formed inside the Negative Energy Plane. Some how, it was able to take control of a gnome's mind, and was raising an army of undead through him. It considers the six of us to be its parents. I intend to enter the Negative Energy Plane and attempt to destroy it before it can encroach on the Material Plane any more. To do that, I need to travel to the north and enlist the help of a mage guild in Lanius. However, I need the gnome as a bargaining chip. He is currently in custody. Who would be up for a prison break? I can't do it by myself."

[Tawa]

"I'm up for it. I can get any guards out of the way if needed."

[Nerjin]

"As much as I hate to say it: Bill, that Gnome nearly destroyed you single-handedly... Are you sure you'd be able to fight this... Thing?"

[Tawa]

I, er, kind of assumed I'd left Statia out of this.

I would also have phrased it differently if I had known Ganron was there.

"I intend to create a mass of Positive Energy, and neutralize the threat at its source."

[Nerjin]

"Oh... Wait... Wouldn't that kill you?" Zoe seems frightened at the idea "Like... Actually kill you?"

"Not a concern right now. In the meantime, you should get winter gear. Lanius is blisteringly cold. That goes for everyone. Do you have the cash on hand for that?"

[Nerjin]

"It doesn't matter right this second. We should probably stop at Riverside and get clothing there. It's too far south for them to need much winter gear. We just won't find any here... But I do have enough to get some if need be."

[Tawa]

"I have more than enough for winter clothing."

"Hmm. Yes. In the mean time, pack. I want to be on the road before nightfall. What say the rest of you?"

"I think you're assuming a bit much... Prison breaks never go well."
