Haha, if only I'd been closer! People were dying left right and centre to this gelatinous cube.

Pioneering Frontiers
Fabulous Secret Powers Include:
  • Explore a land without limits, no chaffing world borders. Huge tracts of land!
  • See exactly how lost you are with our very own Google map. Isometrical!
  • Play the latest builds, discover brand new bugs features. Be the first!
  • Obscenely helpful players! Seriously, just take the food and armor, don't be a hero.
  • Contribute to monumental community projects, leave your mark on the world.
  • Unique 'Panache' system that distinguishes and rewards exceptional players. Très chic!
  • Bulleted Lists!
Same old world, different host, many new friends. Drop by and share a laugh, a tale or even a wondrous creation.

Well, it seems that something's borked with the server. It's saying that I cannot connect due to something stopping it from filling out the request (or something to that extent)

Seems like you managed to connect and even acquire some Panache. Were you having these connectivity issues after a previous session?

I'm tempted to hop back on, but I'm leery about putting Java on my laptop again after what happened last time. I mean, if push comes to shove I just have reinstall my OS, but still. That's a bit of a hassle.

Have you tried rolling back to Java 7? It's still supported until April of next year and you can find it here:

https://java.com/en/download/manual_java7.jsp

I find that it is good practice to reformat your hard drive and start clean every year or so, perhaps this is your incentive?

The issue was occurring no matter which version of Java I used, and I just formatted it like a week ago.

our server is running 64 bit Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Oracle's Java 8 with no issue but, then again that's all it's running aside from the server.jar.

I hope you can get that sorted, Spire Bay is missing out on a bunch of potential immigrants, lots of new faces!

oh Dwarfy,

you are too kind, never has our silly little mess been undeservedly graced with such lovely words. I've said it time and time again, it's the amazing contributions and involvement of our fabulous community that are the cornerstone of our success. You guys rock!

Although, Tyrone escaped his pen and had to be put down :( Captivity wore on him poorly and he just had to be free, even if it meant death. There are a few baby Tyrones being housed in Star's greenhouse that live on in his memory.

Honestly, reinstalling the OS seemed to fix a few other problems I was having as well, so I could probably get it to work, but I'm still kinda gun-shy. Mostly because re-DLing my steam library on satellite internet is a nightmare.

Listen to the man, check out those screenies, it a fabulously haciendalicious build!  Now stop being lazy mooks and share your amazing builds too!

You could create a new partition on your hard drive and backup your Steam library there.
